We used gdiapers for the first 3 months, but I made my own inserts, with flatfold gauze diapers. We used the flushable liners while on vacation and they worked okay, but we preferred my washable liners. Also, we did get a lot of leaks around her legs because the plastic liner that snaps inside wasn't quite wide enough.
We use them as our primary CD's with the Gcloth inserts. I like them. There is a slight learning curve to make sure you've got them on properly, but we haven't had a problem. Only time we've had leaks it's been either user error (we didn't put it in the crease of her legs) or the one time we had multiple leaks it was because she needed to move up to mediums. Once we did that, the problem was fixed I just wrote about them on my blog Here.
Re: gdiapers?
it's never too late. and CDs are useful to help with potty training so this is a good time.
I have used gdiapers for travel with the disposable inserts. They were pricey, but pretty decent. I liked them enough for limited use.
But, the cover is not waterproof, which I didn't like.
