For my first, I had a little bassinet at the foot of the bed which she slept in...although, she never actually slept in it...she hated it. It was old and it rocked...just never felt very safe or comfy. For my second, I had a PNP with the bassinet portion that he slept in, but again...he didn't sleep well in it. I just put it together up again for this baby, but it just doesn't feel very firm or comfortable. I'm thinking about maybe a co-sleeper for this one. What are y'all using?
Re: Where will your baby sleep at first?
Crib in his room...
DH and I talked about it quite a few times and at great length co-sleeping, or even just sharing a room, itsnt gonna work for ua,
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!

This is the same for us. Despite many people offering advice that I'm making the wrong choice but not having baby in our room. But the nursery is right across the hall and I believe this is the best option for us.
If however I change my mind we do have a PNP so we COULD use that if it comes to it.
a travel size PNP with a bassinet built in and it he will be right next to my bed for the first few months. I love the size and features of the travel size, it is really not that much smaller, is secure, and leaves me more room along side my bed! Bonus is it will work great in our camping trailer for a while since the bassinet comes out!
Bassinet for the first couple of nights. Then to her crib shortly after.
People say that I will want her close to me for breast feeding, but I swear I can walk the extra 15ft to her crib in the other room. I mean, we bought this beautiful crib for her to sleep in I just don't understand why most don't put babies in the crib right away.
However, I am first time mom and I may want her right next to me. Not sure.
More Green For Less Green
We're planning on doing the same thing we did with DD:
-- in bed with us in a "sleeper" for the first 2-4 weeks (https://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=6218&cmSource=Search)
- then in a PNP next to our bed for 2-4 months
- eventually in a crib
This worked well while b-feeding DD so we thought we'd try it again (which definitely may change depending on this baby's personality!).
We had a cradle for DS that my Grandpa made. He wouldn't sleep in it. We finally figured out that he would sleep with me or in his car seat. Flame away. This time, we got a Rock N Play sleeper hoping it will work. I think DS would have really liked it.

We plan on having LO sleep in the PNP, with built-in bassinet, next to our bed for the first couple months. As soon as we are comfortable having him so far away and he is sleeping a little longer through the night, he will sleep in his crib in the nursery.
We have a queen size bed and DH moves around ALOT at night and often swings his arms around and kicks, so we never even considered co-sleeping.
Instead of a bassinet I got this

My friends that have used it loved it - and its great for traveling.
We are getting this:

its small and its portable. We don't have a lot of spare room in the bedroom, and co-sleeping is not an option so either this or her crib, which ever one she is more comfortable in.
