well if we sit around and think long enough, i'm sure we could come up with a derogitory word for every name!!!
Josie means "God will add" and since we got preggie after my tubal ligation, it's pretty fitting!!!!
we do like josie marie, marie is my middle name!
Not to like...be THAT guy, but Josie doesn't mean anything. That's what Joseph means, and so (by extension) what Josephine means. They peg that meaning on Josie because it's a diminutive, but the name itself means nothing.
Not to bring you down. My name's "just Allie" and therefore doesn't mean anything, either.
I wonder if some of your parent's ever tought you the phrase "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" ??????
I was simply asking what you all thought would go with Josie, sheesh
How old are you?
and I'm sorry, but this is a public forum and you have to be prepared for answers that aren't always nice once you put yourself out there. We're honest, sometimes brutally so. I don't think that anyone was overly mean to you in this thread, and we gave some pretty good options.

This.
You also might want to think long and hard on the name. If a bunch of Internet strangers can make you this upset about it, it's going to hurt a lot more if your child is made fun of for her name.
If you love the name, use it. Nobody can keep you from using the name. But as a parent, you SHOULD be prepared for the way other people will react to it. And you SHOULD know the ways the name can become an insult. And you should never expect everyone to like it.
haha, we still love the name, will name her that AND believe in the meaning. regardless of what i've read. nothing anyone here says will change anything!!!
and just because this is a public forum that gives people a licence to be rude????? I would NEVER say some of things I have read today! in person, or hiding behind a computer screne!!!

Okay, crazy. Ease up on the punctuation, there. I just thought that since the meaning was important to you, that you might want to know the truth about using a diminutive. Josephine has the meaning you want. You should use it and Josie as a NN if meaning is important to you.

Re: hey guys, what do you think goes with Josie???
Love it!
Josie Elizabeth
Josie Alexandrea
Josie Michelle
Josie Olivia
Josie Quinn is cute. I also like Josie Brynn, Josie Anne and Josie Paige.
If you want a longer mn like Annalise: Josie Elisabeth, Josie Amelia, Josie Eloise, Josie Olivia, Josie Catherine, Josie Seraphina, Josie Madeleine.
I don't like Josie on its own. I think it's a cute NN for Josephine, though.
If it helps, my mom has a baby at her daycare named Josie Renee. She's named after her grandmother.
Josie Grossie (never been kissed)
Sorry
Not a fan...
Same thing popped into my head!

Lucy was Josephine Estelle up until 35 weeks. I agree with pp, I don't necessarily like Josie on its own, but if you're set on that, it's okay.
Other suggestions
Josie Kate
Josie Adelle
Josie Marin
Josie Elizabeth
Josie Katherine
Josie Isabelle
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that thought of this!

Yea, don't let people get you down. You'll come around nay-sayers for every name.
I'd definitely say the name is fitting then! Congratulations, by the way. I think Josie Marie is a nice choice, too.
They weren't "sitting around and thinking about it". The nn Josie Grossie is from a pretty popular movie (Never Been Kissed).
Congrats on the miracle:) although your use of "preggie" made me cringe.
Josie Marie is way to rhymey IMHO and doesn't flow well at all, although I like that it's your mn. Josephine Marie nn Josie is alright though.

WOW!
I never saw that movie so, whatever...
