Anybody have trouble telling people how many weeks you are, when they really want to know how many months... and then you try to add it in your head... and you get confused? Maybe it's just me, but I found several converters, but I like this one the best:

And according to this, come Wednesday, I will officially be five months preggo. Sounds good to me.
Re: So I'm 5 Months Pregnant. That Sounds Better
Um yes the chart does quite an excellent job of explaining.
i.e. You are in your FIFTH MONTH from weeks 18-21.
The same as I'll be in my NINTH month even at 36 weeks, not just the day I deliver.
20 weeks is not 4.5 months, as 40 weeks comes closer to 10 months NOT 9, although 20 weeks IS the halfway mark.
No, it doesn't. Months are not made up of exactly 4 weeks therefore 40 weeks =/= 10 months. It works out to 9 months and and a few extra days (can't remember exactly how many, something like 4 or 5)
So when your baby arrives and has been around for 6 months, will you tell people that they are 1 year old? Do you tell people the age you are of the year you are in, or the year you've 'completed'?
18-21 weeks... you're 4 months pregnant. 36 weeks, you're 8 months pregnant.

I think it's easier to just go by when the baby is coming. I'm having a c-section in the beginning of January, so now I say I'm 6 months pregnant since it's only 3 more months until I have the baby. Although pregnancy isn't exactly 9 months, I think it's easier for people to understand that way.
I wouldn't consider someone due in March to be 5 months pregnant in October.
I agree with most of the above posters.
To me it seems like cheating to say you are 5 months when you are only 18 weeks. I didn't even like saying 5 months at 20 weeks because I was only half way there!! People assume if you are 5 months then you have 4 months left, when you don't.
My stepdad, who is a farmer and has no children or interest in children, told us when we told him I was expecting that gestation for humans and cows was the same number of days. I found this weird but he said 9 months and 6 days. My ob said this is correct.
What we tell people depends on who they are. Women know it is 40 weeks so we tell women exactly how many weeks I am. With men my fiance and I will just say oh I am a little over 5 months, i am 21 weeks, or I am half way there!! Everyone knows my due date as well.
I think it's alot less confusing to people to count back from your due date. Like PPs have said, if you say you're 5 months pregnant, people assume you're due in 4 months, which isn't true. Most people don't know that pregnancy is closer to 10 months.
My due date is March 2, I tell people I'm 4 months along.

MY OB said you're technically pregnant 10 months. So, they're all wrong and you're right. Just sayin'.
This is a really cool website we use quite often.

This always aggrevated the piiss out of me when I was pregnant. People, please go back to Kindergarten, because you obviously can't count to 9.
I'll use myself as an example for this. All OB offices use your first day of your last period to get your EDD, unless you chart and know the exact date you O'd. When I was pregnant, mine was September 17. Therefore, my EDD was June 24. If you count, that's 9 months and 1 week. If you want to count weeks, yes, that's 40 weeks.
So where the h*ll do you get 10 months from? Please tell me what month, other than February, has exactly 4 weeks in it? None. So there's no way 40 weeks is 10 months.
Ummmm... no.

Yikes! I would think about switching OB's if mine said something like that.
Ummm..no is right!!! Lol! It drives me crazy when people say they are pregnant for 10 months. Especially considering that when you start counting 40 weeks from your LMP you're not even pregnant for the first two weeks!
To those who think you are pregnant for 10 months, here's what you need to do.
Step 1: Grab a calendar
Step 2: Find the date of your last months period, and then exactly one week after that, write a 1 on the calendar. That is the first week of your 40 weeks.
Step 3: Each subsequent week, write a 2, then a 3, then a 4...you get the picture.
Step 4: Count how many months those 40 weeks cover...voila! I guarantee you won't end up with 10 months, unless you follow some sort of a goofy calendar where each month only has 28 days!
