There is debate as to whether or not they are really safe. I think if they are installed properly on the right kind of doorframe, they are probably just fine. So make sure you read the instructions carefully. The instructions will also tell you what age is safe to use it- I think they need to have good head control and be able to somewhat support themselves in an upright position. We started using the FP Rainforest Jumperoo around 4 mos, but he really just sat in it until around 5/6 mos when he realized he could make it move! The fear with the doorway ones is that the part that holds it to the wall/top of door frame can pop loose and then baby would fall to the ground and get smacked in the head by the top part. With that said, we used one with my nephews/nieces and never ever had a problem- they loved it. But then again, when it came time to get one for my own child, I was happy to get the freestanding jumperoo as a gift so that I didn't have to worry about it!
DD had one and loved it!!! I hung from it in the doorway for a few seconds and then was satisfied it would hold her I don't remember what age we put her in there to begin with. We lived in a tiny apartment and it was perfect for us because it was so easy to get out of the way when we weren't using it!!
I was just thinking about these the other day. I had one when I was a baby and apparently couldn't get enough of it. I loved to be in it forever. We had a jumparoo with my daughter and it was so bad. It didn't really jump and when it did it was really loud. She hated it. I want to get a doorway jumper with the next baby, but I can't help but have this fear that the whole thing is going to come crashing down on their head. I'm a nut. I'm curious to see more answers and if anybody has ever had anything bad happen IRL.
I had the Graco doorway jumper for DS and it was great! I really appreciated the small size for a jumper. I think I first put him in it around 6 months. Nothing bad ever happened. I know the feeling of worrying about it coming crashing down, but it was held up there so snugly that it I knew he was very safe. If that situation ever happened, it'd be all over the online reviews of these things.
