Because tonight I am going to fvcking kill SO's brother if he does not STFU. Mind you, this is the guy that leaves dishes in the sink for WEEKS, doesn't clean up after himself or his dog (who sh*ts all over the place, because he doesn't walk her), smokes weed in the apartment, and has a tendency to make threats towards SO because he can't control his temper.
I'm sitting here, bumping, minding my own business, waiting for SO to get home from work. Enter the doucher:
Him: Kay, there's dishes in the sink that need to be done within the hour or I'm putting them on the floor in your room.
Um, excuse me? So I said SO a text warning him that if doucher continues to make threats, he will not be coming home to a very happy household.
And SO calls me to tell me to do dishes and quit complaining!
Am I over-reacting? Probably. Should I just do this dishes? Probably. But FFS, would it kill you to back me up, SO?
Re: Pregnancy can be used as defense for murder, right? (venting)
I don't think you are overreacting. He sounds pretty annoying. Why is he so interested in you washing dishes if he never does his? Good luck!
It's a whole ridiculously long story, but in a nutshell, SO's mom is also on our lease (she no longer lives here though), and therefore, has allowed him to stay, since she still helps with rent.
I pray every day that it will change before baby comes, and SO swears it will... but I guess we'll see.
I never held you, but I always loved you.

I know this wasn't the point of your original post, but you have got to get him out of your place if you can.
Obviously it will not be sanitary for a baby to be in a place where dog *** is not picked up (you know if the brother picks it up, he doesn't actually clean the floor)
You can not have weed in your household. You're putting your baby at risk, your putting your custody of your child at risk if he gets busted.
If you plan to breastfeed, having a roommate like that will make it complete hell for you.
My husband let his brother come stay with us "for just a visit" when DD was only 2 weeks old. He brought pot into our house, and it was so hard to breastfeed, he was always walking in while my boobs were out bringing random people over. I felt like a prisoner in my room. So not cool. He did not stay for very long.
I couldn't agree more, working w/ family court, if SO's brother is that careless he needs out. I see children removed all the time because its considered an injurious environment. Not only that, but breathing in the smoke/residue has led to many false positives.
You are totally not over-reacting. On the dog s***. Get a napkin, put it on his bed, under his covers. Maybe then he will learn.
I see you have a 2 yr old too, the feces could make her sick too. Ugh, I am annoyed for you!
I would let him have it - not ok, even if you weren't pregnant.
The most disturbing aspect of this is him smoking in the apartment, that needs to stop like, yesterday.
