Just wondering if anyone living in Staten Island is currently expecting? We just found out we'll have a little one come April. Was looking for opinions on which hospital on the Island you used and what you liked/disliked about each. Our doctor is affiliated with both. Thanks in advance!
Hi... I'm a mommy 2 be in SI- we're expecting in March.
I am not delivering here b/c my doctor is in manhattan. But of the two hospitals, I think SIUH is the better hospital- but I have so many friends who delivered at RUMC, and feel they had a great experience. Apparently many of the PA's there run a private business with birthing classes and lactation consulting on new dorp lane. I hear they are very knowledgable.

siuh is so close to us, and that's always been the hospital my family has used for surgeries, trauma, etc. so i think i would just feel more comfortable there. husband was born at rumc (st. v), and he's ok with going there. i was born at nyu, so my mom has no opinion to share either way on hospitals here. and of course things have changed over the last 30 years. i've heard of the new dorp lane classes. supposed to be good but quite expensive.

i would suggest SIUH since i had to go there for emergency during pregnancy. they were very nice. i did deliver in manhatten though.
in terms of classes i never found any in SI but I did hear that prenatal massages are great at Cloud 9.
PM me for any other recommendations, questions, etc
congrats!
