Re: Books on Open Adoption

  • I liked "A Love Like No Other," which is a collection of stories, so not all are about open adoptions.

"Raising Adopted Children" has some good insight for how to handle the dynamics of different types of adoptions, including open.

The same author (Lois Ruskai Melina) wrote "The Open Adoption Experience."  I haven't read it myself, so I don't know anything about it, other than I like the author.  :)

"Making Room in Our Hearts: Keeping Family Ties through Open Adoption" sounds interesting, too.

  • I always recommend "Adoption for Dummies."  Silly title, but it has tons of info on all sorts of adoption questions.

  • I second the Melina books. I got them from the library but bought Raising Adopted Children b/c I liked it so much. I'm going to check out her other book next.
