Biting Already?

Our 11 month old tried to bite my hand today while I was taking something away from her. Then, just now she got made at DW and tried to bite her shoulder. Anyone else? We are thinking about starting a time out corner already for this strong willed girl.

Re: Biting Already?

  • Yep, DD bites. She doesn't do it when she's mad or to be malicious, she does it when she gets excited. It happens when we are holding her and she just gets excited and chomps down on our shoulder. I have so many little cuts and bruises, I'm seriously starting to look like I'm being abused! We read that you should tell them "no biting" and set her down for a minute - she couldn't care less. I have no idea what else to do about it.

  • We're in the same boat.  DS bites when he gets excited as well.  Mostly, he tries to bite my ears or temple (lol!) when he gives "hugs."  It's adorable, but I try to tell him "no biting" and pull him away, look him in the eye and say "no biting."
  • I'm at a loss too.  DS bites just to bite.  I say "no biting" very sternly everytime and have put him down.

I also read to bite back very very gentle, just enough to startle them to be like "what are you doing?"  DS thought it was hilarious.
