Video Cameras

Anyone have any recs?

We are NOT a technological family, so, we don't need anything fancy.  Just something to film Miss L's milestones and the like.  Maybe post the videos online so my family can see her more often.

I know NOTHING about things like this so I don't even know what to research or look into.

TIA!

Re: Video Cameras

  • We have the HD Flip... I love it, it is small enough to throw in the diaper bag. There are no wires or cord needed, it simply has a usb that pops out and you can plug it directly into the computer.

I was going to recommend the Flip also. We don't have one but my BIL & SIL do and they use it a lot to take videos of my nephews milestones. Another friend of mine has one and he not only uses it for videos of his son, but he make short videos to promote his business (a gym). It's SO easy to use & compact. When we have LO's we will definitely be getting one.

  • We are definitely a Sony family. We have this Sony HandyCam it is certainly small enough for a diaper bag. It is about 4"x2"x2" .... of course I notice that the price has dropped about $100 since we bought it a year ago ;)

  • I have a panasonic not flipsized camera.  but I don't recommend it.  It takes 3 cords to download it to the computer.  It annoys me.  My mom has a little flip like thing.  And it is fantastic.  She takes video all the time.  It uses a memory card so you just pop that out and put it in the computer.  Easy peasy.
  • Of course we have all Samsung stuff.  We got this one a couple of months ago and we've liked it.  If we didn't have our Samsung connection, I probably would have gone with a Flip.  I've used one in the past and it is soooo user friendly and takes decent footage.

  • We have a flip and love it. They have gone down a bit since I bought mine. It is really easy to use and is tiny.
  • We also have the HD flip! Love!

This! DH uses Sony professionally, but they are soo easy to use, especially the handycam. I have a flip knockoff ghat I never use because the handycam gives such better quality. I do like the portability of the flip, however. We just got a kodak playsport, which is AWESOME, it's waterproof and smaller than the flip, no USB attached, but uses one cord.
