Babies on the Brain

Please recommend your carseat

I checked out the baby gear forum and wanted your opinion.  Our dd is 29 inches and 17 lbs at almost 6 months and gets really warm riding in her carseat.

Re: Please recommend your carseat

  • We have a Blvd and it's great.  The only complaint I have though is now that DS is bigger and wearing bulkier clothing, the straps get caught going through the slats at the back of the seat and it's a large PITA to unstick them.

But, other than that minor inconvenience, it's been a great seat, rear facing and FF.

  • We have a roundabout and I LOVE it. Super easy to install and Gavin seems comfortable.  I bought the Radian and then the Triumph and returned them both - 1) couldn't get a good install on either (mind you, that depends on the user and the car I'm sure) and 2) the triumph just didn't feel well made to me. Completely subjective, since they have to pass the same safety regs but that was my opinion.
  • Sunshine Kids Radian 80.  We love them.  The only downside I've found to them is that they do take up quite a bit of room RF'ing, but any seat with a tall height limit like that will be the same way.  They do fit in my Kia Sorento though, so you don't have to have a massive car or a minivan or anything like that.
  • We too have the roundabout and even at 34", Em is still RFing.  (don't worry...I have measured and she's still good for RFing in it).

We will be using that until she outgrows the RFing or until she's 2 and then we are switching her to the Graco Nautilus.  It will last us all the way until she's out of a booster.

  • I have this one (Evenflo Titan Elite) for my son. It fits nicely into my Honda civic and it is rear facing up to 35lbs (forward facing to 50lbs). If I had the money I may have possibly bought a Britax, but the Evenflo has worked out nicely for us.
  • We have the Evenflo that you are looking at.  We are still in the infant carrier in my car, but use the Evenflo in my DH's car.  He really likes it so far.

  • We have a Blvd in my car and a Graco MyRide 65 in DH's car. The Blvd was a pain and a half to install (my car is older and doesn't have LATCH). It took me 3 hours and I finally had to put it on the passenger side because it would not install correctly in the middle. The Graco is very similar to our Snugride as far as how the belts work and it is half the price and just as good as the Blvd. The belts are the Blvd are tricky to tighten, I've gotten the hang of it because I do it everyday, but DH still has trouble getting it tight enough. If I had it to do over, I'd buy 2 MyRides.
