I think I'd like to go to a studio for six-month pics of the babies and us as a family. We don't have anything like that yet. Suggestions for affordable and not too cheesy looking work?
We've been to Target and Portrait Innovations. Both places have some cheesy backgrounds, but you can just choose the plainer ones and they look fine (I'm just not into the "beach" or "fall" scenes).
Pros and Cons of each place:
Target pros: affordable (make sure you download coupons from www.targetportraits.com), liked the backgrounds, liked the photographers
Target cons: small studio (at least the one in Troy is), don't get your pictures back for 10-14 days
PI pros: can be affordable (they have a one pose $9.99 special that includes a ton of pictures), liked the backgrounds, get your pictures that same day
PI cons: WAAAAAAY overbooked! The last time I was there I swore I wouldn't go back, I was about to rage on them. And I saw others raging while I was there. It took FOREVER. I had an appt, was on time, and it still took 2+ hours. Ridiculous. This is the Sterling Heights location. And it was on a weekday- I shudder to think what a Saturday would be like. Also, I did not think the photographers were very good with DD.
Both places did a pretty good job, but we were happier with Target. However it was super nice to get the pictures the same day.
Weve gone to Portrait Innovations in Northville and also to JCPenny at 12oaks. Both were ok, I liked Portrait Innovations better, they seemed to listen to what I wanted better and took more pics. I also liked that we got the pictures that day, where as I had to wait for like 2 weeks to get them back from JCP and then they were scratched and they had to reorder more...which took another 2 weeks.
JCP did get me the scratched ones (which were the wallets and only like one individual pic was scratched) so we did get more pics that way at no extra charge. JCP also gave me the "extras" (that they try to get you to buy) for my inconvienence.
