Labor music?

For some reason, I feel like I have no want for music playing during labor. I feel like it'd distract my mental state and focus.

Did anyone not have music? Or does anyone else plan not to? And why does this seem so important and people look at me like I'm crazy when I say this? haha

Re: Labor music?

  • I'm bringing my iPod, but I didn't have music when labouring with DS and I didn't feel I missed it at all so I'm not sure if it will help/hinder this time around.  Either way, I'll have it afterwards for however long my hospital stay is.

  • It will be my first delivery, so I'm bringing EVERYTHING.  LOL. iPod, DVDs, books, magazines... The last thing I want is to be there and be feeling "Oh, if only I had that album to listen to it would totally keep my mind focused".  Or, "wow this is taking a while, it would be nice to play a movie to distract myself".  I may not use any of it, but I will be prepared!

(also agree that for after the birth it may come in handy too.)

This.. I have made a pretty mellow playlist to play in the background, but I'm not sure how I will feel about it at the time. I just figured it would be nice to have and try, I can always have them turn it off if it's making it harder to focus..
