Spotting has got me down :(

I haven't even done an intro, as I am in denial... so, HI!

This pg is VERY unexpected.  I never thought I could get pg w/out IVF.

My twin pg was rough - bedrest from 13wks - 33w4d when I delivered.  Had heavy bleeding at 5w5d and 13wks, and then the cervix started to go at 23wks, and was almost gone by 28wks.

Before I knew I was pg this time I thought my period was coming...cramps, spotting.  The spotting was between 5-7wks, and then went away.

A couple days ago I started spotting a little again.  It's just standard brown.

Anyway, I know that spotting can mean absolutely nothing.  I'm worried b/c i CANNOT go on bedrest again.  I just want a "normal" pregnancy.

Thanks for listening.

  • The spotting could be your periord. I have a friend who spotted the time her cycle should have been for the first 5 months. Try not to worry to much, that will only put you and baby at more risk.

  • 20 weeks of bedrest?  Poor thing!  I hope this is a much less worrisome pregnancy!  (You do give me hope that maybe for #2, we won't need IVF!)

  • I'm sorry the spotting has got you down. I'm sure it's a lot to think about with your two little ones (who are very cute by the way!)

Have you spoken with your OB about it?

I hope that it will ease up for you soon and that you'll have a smooth pregnancy ahead. ((hugs))

  • Thank you ladies - I so appreciate the support!  I am trying to keep the worry to a minimum, but I am still shell shocked from last time.  Surely hormones are not helping either.

Yes MrsH, I *had* blocked tubes, and my OB, and peri told me I had the same chance of getting pg again w/out assistance as someone on the pill.  I am one of those people for whom a pregnancy seems to fix my IF problems.  Hope the same happens for you!

  • Sorry to hear that. I hope you have a non-eventful pregnancy too!

Maybe this will be the one and only time, and hopefully it's nothing at all!

    Good luck!

Don't let me freak you out.  If you come over to the multiples board you will see lots of women who had little, and even no bedrest.  Your pg will be higher risk but not a sure thing that you'll have complications.  Eesh, sorry if I worried you!

    Thanks!

My OB knows I had the spotting earlier.  He said if it came back he wanted to give me a Rhogam shot w/in 72hrs.  So, I may get one Monday.  I'm scheduled for another u/s Tuesday.  Hope everything looks ok in there... no bleeds, etc.

I've vaguely heard of the period thing - will ask the OB about it!

  • I had spotting with this pg too.  It does stink.  I hope everything is okay.  Have you asked your OB if you can get a sanity u/s?  Mine gave me one when I told her I had been spotting and it was a relief to see that hb flicker.
