Fall fun next weekend

I'm looking for something fall related to do next weekend.  It is our only free weekend in October!  I want a pumpkin patch, hayride, apple cider, type of place.  We have never been to any of the farms around so I really don't know where to go.  My parents are taking L to HallZooWeen on the 16th but I'm sad to miss it so we may just do that anyway if I can get his costume together.

Thanks for your insight.

Re: Fall fun next weekend

  • We go to Mcglasson farm in NKY every year. They have live music on the weekend, pumpkin patch, apple cider...but no hayride. It's nice for us b/c it's along the river and Hudson loves to take the ferry over. It's been our tradition for the past 4 years to go when Jake Speed and the Freddies are playing.

  • We are going to Iron's Fruit Farm next weekend.  We go every year and it is so much fun!  They have a free hayride out to the pumpkin patch where you can pick your own then pay by the pound.  Their apple cider and apple fritters are amazing.  I even read you can go apple picking too, even in October.  They have some animals too.  Its just a fun family place.

  • Options:

    Fall-O-Ween at Coney

Parky's Farm has a Halloween thing starting next weekend

Neiderman Farms has the pumpkin patch, hayride, corn maze

Iron Fruit Farms has cider, pumpkin patch, hayride

I'm sure there are more - the newest Cincinnati Family mag has a whole list of fall stuff, you can probably find it on their website.

  • we're going to blooms and berries this year. They have everything you've listed...the corn maze is even designed to look like union terminal!

  • I second Iron's Fruit Farm and Blooms and Berries. They both have all the things you listed and are great.

Blooms and Berries has some cool little play areas for kids too. I think you have to pay for the hayride there, though. At Iron's the hayride is free.

  • Iron's is my favorite place to go in fall. We actually got engaged there so it holds special meaning for us. We're going to be taking our godson there not next weekend but the weekend after for a hayride and some pumpkin picking.
  • We went to Farm Haven in Union last year.  They had pumpkins piled up near the front to pick from but I am 99% sure you can also pick your own.  They had a hayride, petting zoo and a stand where you could buy apple cider and other fall treats.  Ava was more interested in the petting zoo than anything else and we all had a great time.  While it wasn't the most extravagant of pumpkin patches, we stopped there on a whim and it fit the bill perfectly for Ava at the time.  There is also Kinman Farms in Burlington and McGlasson Farms in Hebron, both have been recommended to me in the past.

  • We've also been to Farm Haven in Union in the past, and we really liked it.  Today we went to Daniels Farm in Independence, and it was nice.  They have a lot of animals to pet and feed, which was Brady's favorite part, and they also have a hayride, general store, and different fall foods.  I'm excited to try out Irons Fruit Farm after reading the replies here!

We're going to Iron's tomorrow!  Their apple picking is actually done for the season.  I called yesterday.  :-(  But I agree, their apple fritters are awesome!
