how early do you arrive to a wedding?

okay pregnancy brain is hitting me pretty hard.  I'm going to a wedding and the wedding starts at 6:30.  it's at a house.. I've never been to the house but from what I hear it's huge.. sorta out in the country.. and from what I know of the people it will be a rather relaxed nontraditional wedding and it's supposed to be outdoors.. not sure what they'll do if it rains.

all that said, what the heck time should I aim to get there??  it's about 30 minutes away according to google maps.. I don't wanna get there at, like 6:20 and have them have already started, but I also don't wanna get there at like 6 and have to stand around by myself for a half hour or more.  I won't know anybody else there but the bride and groom and sorta kinda the grooms parents but it's at their house so they'll be busy.

what time would you aim to get there??

  • I'd split the difference and arrive at 6:10 Wink

Girrrl, I can't come up with anything this clever in my own life, lol.

  • I'd say 6:15 is reasonable.

  • seriously thank you ladies.  my brain thanks you too.  I think I'm gonna leave at 5:45 so if it does take a half hour I'll get there at 6:15.. but it tends to take me less time than what google maps usually says so maybe I'll be a bit earlier.. glad that's decided! hah

  • I agree with PP...6:15 is a good time, I usually aim to get to weddings or events like 15-30 min early to make sure I don't miss anything...however, this is coming from the woman who showed up to her own wedding over a half hour early lol
  • No one will ever start a 6:30 wedding at 6:20. Get there at 6:20, maybe 6:15.

We recently had to drive 3+ hrs to get to a wedding and I guess we didn't leave enough buffer for traffic because we were 10 min late. It was also a nontraditional one on someone's property. But they started 12 min late, so we were good to go. :-)
