hello from SAHM-ville w/ clicky poll

Hi ladies, I miss "seeing" all of you everyday. I feel like so much has happened with everyone recently.

My dad id doing ok, he's started radiation & Chemo starts on Monday. My boss & I decided that since I'm the primary caregiver for my dad, that's its best that I take some time off work. While I'm sad I wont be at the job I love everyday, I'm excited to be with Elizabeth everyday.

  • I find it hard to get everything done even though I'm home all day long.  I think its because I'm home all day long.  Things get dirtier because we are here more often and therefore make a bigger mess.  I try to make sure I have a schedule that I go by or else I don't get everything done.  I also have a hard time dealing with my DH.  That sounds terrible I know, but he doesn't understand that just because I don't work outside the house doesn't mean I don't work.  He seems to think I can do everything and nothing is ever done good enough.  I don't think he realizes how hard things are with 2 kids and him gone all the time.

  • I voted "other".  When my mat leave was up, I was laid off from my job (stupid restructuring lol).  I'm at home right now but I'm looking for work because we need the two incomes.  So I'm a SAHM looking for work.

  • I'm a special snowflake. Technically, I'm a WorkAHM... I do still work for Peter (even though I quit on him about 59 times already). My whole deal is this - I only work when I have the time, kinda. I am the only one who knows the books, who does all our account recs, account pays, hell, I even find myself sprawled over plumbing plans at times. However, I try to get everything done, along with house cleaning, laundry, and cooking while Mari is napping. This is very difficult when your kid naps only 30mins at a time and 3 times a day if I'm lucky. I also am dinner clean-up and the household bill-payer. I seriously have a hard time keeping it together and not completely flipping out, but my only oter hoice is to go to work outside the home... And I won't do it. So, when it comes to Mari, our day usually consists of two walks: one in the morning and one in the afternoon, reading lots of books, sesame street at 7am while I'm having coffee, I try to get to gymboree wed, thurs, amd fri and I try to make visits with close-by friends as frequent as possible (usually like once a week). So, um, yea, I stay at home, but I'm freakin BUSY!

ETA: I meant ti tell you I'll be thinking of your dad and praying for all of you!!!
  • My challenges, let's see... I work outside the house 36-48 hrs/ week, plus I do all the house cleaning, grocery shopping, bill paying, laundry, dishes, and about 80% of the pet care and 90% of the baby care. When we are not home we have a sitter at the house with her 3 yr old and half the time she doesn't clean up after them. The division of work at my house has caused more than a few arguments here lately, but that is another post for another day. Anyways.

It is great that you are getting to spend more time with E and your dad! It sucks that your dad had to get sick for you to get this opportunity but it's good that you get to take advantage of the time with your family. You are in my t&p.

    This exactly.

I go back to work this week, so I can't really answer yet because I haven't started.  But, I anticipate that my biggest challenge will be keeping up with housework (although DH is WONDERFUL about pulling his weight around here), & finding time to take care of myself (gym time) without taking more time away from Reese.  I wish I didn't have to go back!
