Would you ever shave the sides of their hair so they have a mohawk. I think styling one is cute but I'm not sure I would ever shave the sides of my little boy's head (if I ever have one) so they can have an actual mohawk. My coworker did this to his 8 year old and I just dont think it looks right. Of course I like men/boys to have short hair (DH actually has no hair) so maybe it's just something that I am weird about.
Re: Little boys and mohawks
Once he's "school-aged" I'd probably allow it in the summer months, but during the school year he won't be rockin' the true mohawk (this is assuming he ever gets hair!!). I'm a teacher and whether it's right or not, I see how teachers react to kids with mohawks- there is a stigma associated with it at our school.

My Dh gives my DD mohawks after her bath. Well the fauxhawk thing as a joke. She doesn't have enough hair to put into any pony tails or to cut.
I am with the pp. I personally think mohawks on little boys make them look like punk/bratty kids (school age) but it's not my kid so I don't care what others do.
I'm sure we'll do the fauxhawk thing... probably not shave it though. We'll see when he's older and if *he* wants it.
Last year the school I taught at had a crazy hair day... so many little boys came in with shaved mohawks or half shaved heads, it was crazy! Then the next day the entire head was shaved. I thought that was fun of the parents to let them do what they wanted for the day, knowing they'd cut it all right after.
