Finally picked a crib (PIP)... now what mattress???

I FINALLY decided on a crib that my hubby and I both love.  It has wonderful reviews, but now for the mattress... I guess I didn't realize there were as many choices for a crib mattress as there are for my own bed.  Does anyone have any idea on what is a good one?

  • Thank you.  I wasn't sure if it would matter or not.  I appreciate your feedback!!!

  • We had researched and picked a crib weeks ago. But, just recently picked a mattress and I'm still not sure if it's the right 1. It's such a pain. Like the PP, I picked 1 that's mid-range in terms of price, had really good reviews and would fit the crib with little to no space around the edges.

JcPenny.com has it.  It is called the Tribeca, and it comes in 3 different colors.  It is decently price with the sale and you can save on shipping if you have it shipped to your local JcPenny Store!!!!!!!!  Good Luck, I am just in love with it:)

  • We got one that was middle of the price range too, but I like it because it has one side for infants and then once they are about 1 you flip it and the other side can handle the toddler jumping.

  • We just got one from target, but we made sure to get one that has a plastic/vinyl wipe clean surface. Great for when DD has diaper leaks!

Yes it is a convertible one.  You should check it out on JcPenny.com.  It is called Tribeca Convertible

  • I was going to go with a SavvyRest crib mattress.  It has a latex inner and cotton cover.  Its a spendy one though and I found other organic mattresses recently. I'm thinking of getting one from Costco.com, organic mattress.
  • Baby Bargains recommends the Colgate classica I. I see the Colgate Classica III is the same price but has the "dual zones". I'm not sure of any other differences- I can bring myself to research anything too in-depth right now, but am just getting some general ideas.

  • I'm glad you agreed, but I'm not sure what you mean by "Finally." You've got plenty of time to find a mattress and other nursery items. I'm not going near them until at least 20 weeks.
  • lol, just noticed the "finally". You have PLENTY of time. Smile I don't think I can do it until 20 or so weeks either... I actually know some of the stuff I want I just can't bring myself to buy it.

  • By "FINALLY", I just meant that the hubby and I have been looking for this stuff since we started trying over a year ago, and to us we "FINALLY" came to a decision.   I know we have plenty of time for this, but I am such a planner and wanted to get a head start on things.  Plus the family is purchasing the crib and stuff and they have asked us to get them the info as soon as we can so they can get it ordered.

  • Love your crib!  We bought a Naturepedic for DD https://www.naturepedic.com/  and have been really happy with it.  It's pricey, but when I started researching them decided it'd be worth splurging on an organic one since they spend so much time in their cribs.

  • I'm not buying anything until the remodeling is done. Keeping fingers crossed!

No matter what our bed room has to be done by end of Feb.  because I wont have my last month of pregnancy streessful because the bedroom isnt done.

I have enough stress with the addition being put on right now and never seeingmy DH any more.

  • We have a simmons mattress for DS.  He's 19 months old now and it's still in great condition.  My SIL bought a cheaper one and it ended up with an indentation in the middle, where he slept, and he didn't even USE his crib that much!  Pretty bad :(
