Hi,
I keep reading how bumpers that come with crib sets are unsafe, and increases the risk of SIDS. Then im worried about the baby arms and legs getting stuck without the bumpers!!!!
Are you guys using bumpers that come with the crib sets?
not using any bumpers?
or using the breathable bumpers?
I want to start looking at bedding after we find out the sex... but dont want to buy a set if im going to throw out the bumpers.
Re: crib bumpers???
My entire set, including the bumper, is being made for me. I'm not sure if it'll be breathable. I'll use it either way.
Never used bumpers b/c I didn't feel they were worth the risk. No arms or legs stuck and never had it happen w. a baby I nannied either.
P.S. Baby positioners are a no no too. I don't have the site on hand, but look at the SIDS site and they will give you more info. The risk isn't just about the baby smooshing their face in a bumper, it's the lack of air circulation too.

I hope you are joking.
OP: I plan to use the breathable bumper, I'm not buying a bedding set, just sheets and a breathable bumper.
This for us too!
This is exactly what we did. Breathable bumpers from day one. Its not worth the risk in my opinon, no matter if one child did ok with it or not.
And sleep positioners are a BIG no no. So i hope no one will consider using those.
using breathable bumpers

THIS! I already have the sleep positioner, and I will use the crib bumper. I am also going to ask my SIL and sister what they did. I'm sure it will be ok.
You people do know about this, right?

I don't get why you would put your baby at such a risk!
No bumper for us. It is absolutely NOT worth the risk in my opinion. I can't imagine taking a chance with something like that if it's not even necessary.
If later on we're worried about LO's arms or legs getting stuck, I'll get a breathable bumper.
I got the bumper on now,, will most likely take it off when the baby comes. i believe that sometimes SIDS happens even with all precautions but it's good to be safe either way.
I do have one point tho: it's great that we are all concerned over the health of our babies, in the womb and when they are first born. Remember this, when they are growing up, always wanting fast food, to watch a lot of TV, having temper tantrums and wanting their own way,, parenting continues throughout, even when it doesn't "feel good" to say NO to your child, please still do. We need more strong, healthy (emotional, physical and mental) young men and women to be happy and well adjusted adults in the world that is out for them now. Strong and healthy parenting can help very much for that,, so again, we need to be concerned and cautious now as well as having fun, etc, but that needs to continue as our child grows up.
We can do this March Mommies!
