XP from the photography board...
I am trying to determine the best timeframe to have newborn pictures done. First week of life? First two weeks?
Also -
would love suggestions on your favorite newborn photo props (my LO is a
boy, if that makes a difference). I have an excellent photographer but
he's just starting out and doesn't have any of the props, so I'm helping
to choose them.
Re: XP from photography - newborn pics
My LO is pretty stinkin' cute (mother's opinion, I know) and he's a week old. I've heard that some babies are still a little swollen from delivery though. But I would say a week is probably good
As for props... I love those photos of babies is silly, irresistibly cute hats, haha.
My Flickr
From what I have read and my own personally experience within the first two weeks is best, since they sleep more and you can get the cute curled up photos etc....
As for props go to Etsy website and type in infant photo props and you can get a ton of idea there.
I did my own newborn pictures. I did them around week 2...simply because as a new mom it's hard to get your act together that first week..and baby is bit cuter
For my props I used a blanket, a basket and a stretchy wrap thingie that looks like baby is in a womb..you can get one on Etsy.com.
Natural light (I think) looks best.
Keep the place cozy and warm.
We did ours week 1 (as advised by our photog) and it turned out great!

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
