Why do people rain on your parade?

I told my friends, neighbors, family that I am pregnant and most gave us "congrats" but a couple said that I was telling everyone so early.  I am 7 weeks and this is my third child. I get it but why can't these people keep this crap to themselves.  I think if one more person tells me that I will blow up!!!!

Did this happen to anyone else?

Re: Why do people rain on your parade?

  • Well it is a little early..... JUST KIDDING!!

I actually think, people deep down, are never truely, genuinely, happy for the good fortune of others. It hasn't happened to me though, I'm only 5 weeks pregnant so we have only told my parents and I have not gotten any grief from them lol. I say ignore it!

  • lol  If you're anything like the other third-time moms I know out there you almost have to tell by 7 weeks because otherwise your belly will be announcing it for you!  :)  You aren't in the same position as FTMs who don't have a history of pregnancy - you know your patterns and risks.  So no, I don't think it's too early for you to announce.  Me, as a FTM, waited until 7 to tell close family and 12 to tell everyone else, but next time around I don't know if we'll wait that long just because I showed early this time - can't imagine how quick it will be next time.
  • I didn't experience anything like that, but feel it's odd to judge. It's your decision. My sister would not allow herself to be happy for me until we saw a heartbeat because she had a miscarriage so she was very fearful for that (plus I had a lot of bleeding, albeit normal according to the doc).
