Any suggestions for travel potty

My DS is starting to potty train.  Public potties scare him a little & me more.  Do you have any suggestions for travel potty seats?  I have seen fold-able ones in One Step Ahead & Babies R Us.  TIA!!!

Re: Any suggestions for travel potty

  • I'd just do a fold up one. I've seen some people keep a potty chair in their car, but I don't really "get" that.

  • We got the Pollette from BRU and have used it a bunch. We love it!  It can be it's own potty with liners if you are in the car or just in a place without a toilet, or the sides open up and you can use it as a ring on any regular toilet. It also comes with it's own bag. I was skeptical at first because it does seem so small, but once we got DD to use it, it hasn't been a problem at all.
  • DD had a potty seat with was a toilet seat with ducks on it. She used it at home and we carried in a backpack EVERYWHERE we went. She used that until she was comfortable to leave the house without it.  She was 2 yrs and 1 month when she started training and we lugged it around for about 4 months. Now we are finally 'ducky potty free" just using at home. We had lysol wipes and hand sanitizer in our backpack too!
  • We've tried them all! :) Here's my opinions:

Paper Potty Toppers: These are awful! They don't stay in place and DC ends up touching the dirty seat. Pointless!

Folding Travel Potty Seat: This is a good one. It's cushioned and doesn't slide around. Great for throwing in the bottom of the stroller for use at the museum, zoo & mall.

Potette: This thing is great! I wasn't sure we needed it but then we had our first experience going to the park and her needing to potty so we had to leave. It's perfect for places where there isn't a bathroom or someplace with a nasty one....I just unfold it and put it the back of my SUV and she goes. Perfect! It also can go right on top a regular potty, like a potty ring (we haven't done this yet). I wish I would have bought it sooner!

    HTH!!

  • I second the Mommy's helper cushie seat. My DD loves it. I also bought a small travel size antibacterial wipes that I wipe the seat down with first before putting her seat down just to be cleaner.
