Why do people (moms, etc) think it is ok to ask how much weight we have gained? Although I have had a pretty good body image throughout my pregnancy, I still have days when I feel fat (like last night when I noticed how huge my thighs and hips have gotten). No matter what we are women who will be sensitive about weight gain...so moms (or whoever is asking the question)...shut up!
Re: nosy people asking about weight gain
I agree with this! And at any time in her life!
An (obnoxious) family member asked me this question the last time I was visiting my family in WI. He just came right out and asked me in front of the whole family. After I quickly got over my humiliation, I said,
"That's so funny, I was just about to ask you the exact same thing!"
He looked kind of shocked for a minute, then turned away and muttered something under his breath. Geez. I swear my family thinks that just because we're related they can ask me anything they want (or offer unsolicited advice, but that's another topic).
I love this! Perfect! I can never think of these snappy comebacks when I'm in the moment.
That's so perfect! I am soooo glad no one has been rude enough to ask me yet, but if they do, I'll have a response at the ready.
Because pregnant women are public property!
For my first pregnancy, my SIL asked me at the Thanksgiving dinner table in front of 25 of our family members.
You are Awesome!
I have a friend who constantly asks me this. I am just waiting to see if friends tonight ask me, but there is another pregnant girl going out as well who is a lot bigger than me, so hopefully the topic will be taboo.
My thighs are getting all of my weight too!
I think it's had the opposite effect on me. The gym teacher at my school and I were talking and she asked out of curiosity because she said it looks like I'm just all belly so I told her I'd gained 11 pounds as of my last appt and she was like, Damn, I gained 50 with both of mine...and seeing as how's she's super athletic and in great shape (she looks awesome now for just having a baby a few months ago) it made me feel good about my own gain. It also just goes to show that some people just gain more weight no matter how healthy/active they are during pregnancy, anyway.
