Hospital Bag Checklist?

Okay, um, first of all, I can not believe that it is time for me to start thinking about this!  LOL and OMG!  I know I've done this twice before, so I should know what to take with me, but I feel like maybe I'm forgetting something.

For Me:
PJ's/Robe
Socks/Slippers
Hair Brush, Shamp/Cond
Toothbrush/Toothpaste
Make-Up
Glasses/Contacts/Solution
Razor
Outfit for going home (maybe the same one I wear there)
Cell Phone Charger
Camera/Video Camera
Pillow

For Lanie:
Side-Snap Shirt that I got for her that I love
Outfit for Picture and Going Home
Pretty Blanket
Headbands/Bows/Flower for Hair
Baby Book (maybe...for people to sign, footprints, etc.)

I know my husband will have Blistex and Change for the Vending Machine.

What am I leaving off?

Re: Hospital Bag Checklist?

  • We needed newborn diapers.  They only carry Size 1s or preemies at Huntsville Hospital (if that is where you are delivering).  So we took the 1s for later and had someone bring us some newborn diapers.  The 1s were two big and the newborns have the cutout for the umbilical cord.
We used our boppy a lot in the hospital.  I was glad I had it.
That's all I can think of right now.

  • I used my boppy a lot because it helped me support her...but I had a c-section.  We brought our laptop so we could get pictures up for our family, and it turned out to be a good entertainment thing for me because we were in there an extra day, but I know that's not for everyone.

I took her baby book, but it never made it out of my bag, whoops.  But we had one of those cute stuffed animals for everyone to sign so that's probably why I never thought about it.

  • Boppy Pillow

Maybe some thank  you notes and a pen for any down time, you can finish some correspondence up while you're there, as people bring gifts, or whatever

Extra blanket?  I have a favorite throw blanket that I brought with me and it was a life saver, our room was pretty chilly at night and it was comforting to have that with me.

    Snacks?

    Charger for your camera/video/cell phones

  • Thanks y'all.  Yeah, I was debating about the Boppy.  Pretty sure I took it last time, but the LC that taught the BFing class I went to the other night (who is also the LC at Crestwood where I'm delivering) said not to bring it.  She said lots and lots of pillows work better.  Eh, I think I'll take it anyway!

Oh yeah, definitely my lap top!  I had that on my paper list, but forgot to add it above.  It'll be neat to be able to send out updates and pics so soon after delivery.

Hadn't thought about NB diapers...for the other 2 I just used what they gave us there.  Honestly, I didn't even realize that they were size 1's.  But, they fit okay.  I guess if she ends up being on the small size they would be good to have.

Do any of you remember if there is a hair dryer in the bathroom...or should I take mine?

    Camera charger...yes!  Definitely need that!

  • well... lots of pillows is fine but I don't think the hospital provides "lots of pillows" ya know?  I definitely loved my boppy in the hospital!

  • Yeah, she told us to bring our own!  I don't think so...  I'll bring the one that I like to sleep on, but I'm not lugging 7 or 8 pillows to the hospital with me while panting through contractions!  LOL!
  • I brought 2 pillows because those hospital pillows are so flat and I tell you after three nights of that bed my back was killing me!  But yeah I can completely understand not wanting to haul 7 or 8 pillows lol.

  • Definitely bring your own pillows and a Boppy!  When I was able to, I immediately changed out of the hospital gown in to my yoga pants and nursing tank.  Sooo much more comfortable!  FWIW, I believe Crestwood uses newborn diapers---Pampers Swaddlers (at least the last time I was there), but with that whole DryMax issue, you might want to bring some.  Oh and don't forget those little hand-glove thingies for Lanie.  DD scratched her face so horribly in the hospital that I had to send DH out and get some.....he couldn't find them so just got socks instead.

  • My boppy was a lifesaver for breastfeeding, but I had a csection.  I also brought my own blanket from home since the hospital ones were so thin.  DH packed a few movies for us to watch on the laptop, but I think he was the only one who watched them.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about nursing tanks!  Yoga pants are a good idea too.  I need to get some new ones.  I do have some mittens for Lanie.  I'll add them to the list!
