St Francis vs. Community South?

I had a major insurance "snafu" today and am thinking of abandoning St Francis despite the issue seeming to be resolved.  I want to be committed in that decision, why do you like your hospital.

As far as the "snafu," I had a cyst drained.  The Dr., not my regular Dr., sent the drainage for testing to the hospital.  Well with our ins. this is subject to our deductible and I would not have authorized had that been explained to me prior to the procedure.  However, if I had known that our plan doesn't put lab work to the ded. if it's done at an independent lab I would have told them to do so. After 6 separate calls, the insurance will be covering this misunderstanding.  I did call all of the Drs we use to have them make note to NOT use the hosptial

Re: St Francis vs. Community South?

  • I had a snafu with St. Francis too.  I abhor St. Francis.  Same thing happened to me with lab stuff at St. F.  We've had bad experiences there all around.  I will never go back.  And we're Catholic, if that matters.  I delivered M at Community, have been there for labs, etc. and have no complaints.

  • We have Anthem ins and I know Anthem has tried to cut ties with them in the past.  My Ob/Gyn will deliver at either hospital so when if #2 happens that is not a concern.  I just like that the hospital is right off the interstate  so if we were to have to have an extended stay it would be easy access since 99% of our family is OOT.  Community isn't that far from the interstate nor is it hard to get to.

  • We have Anthem as well.

I was the last patient in my OB's practice to deliver at Community.  They only deliver at St. F. now.  Since we're 99% sure we're done, I don't think it'll be an issue..if it is we'll have to see about switching OBs because as much as I love my OB, I hate SF that much more.

  • I grew up going to St F becaue that is where my mom has worked for many years.  I love a lot of thier docs.  I would still go there if I didn't live all the way north.  I was acutally considering driving there to see a specialist.  The only ones up here I can get into are at St V and I am not a fan of them.
  • I only have experience at St. F, but have had a lot of friends and family deliver at Community and be very happy with it.  That sucks about the insurance issue!!  St. F billed my SIL for a c-section with her son, even though she had him vaginally.  She was not happy about it at all, and she works there for them!!  She wrote the president/CEO/whoever a letter about it and ended up getting everything covered.  lol.
