Hi ladies. I found out today that my doctor will be taking my little girl at 37 weeks via C section (if not sooner). I know 37 weeks is considered full term but I wondering if anyone experienced any problems with their 37 weekers?
Thanks!

I had LO on his actual due date however two of my friends had theirs at 37 wkks and had no issues. At the same time, they may just monitor her once she is born for even a slight issue that will most likely cure itself after a day or two. Don't fret, that IS full term! HTH
Not at 37 weeks, but I had a scheduled c-section at 38 weeks. I'm not sure any of her issues were attributed to that. She had mild jaundice at birth but it went away by the 3rd day out of the hospital.
She was born at 6lbs, 12oz so not an alarmingly small weight. She also now has acid reflux but it is not bad enough for prescription medicine at this point. She hasn't had any respiratory or developmental issues so far. She already has very good head control and has for a few weeks now and is gaining weight very well. Her Pedi seems to think she's pretty healthy and has not said anything that happened early on was because of her early arrival.
DD was born at 37 weeks. She was jaundiced for a few days and was in the NICU for 12 days because she got Ecoli from the birth canal. I am not sure this was a age thing.. it could of happened at any age. One thing I noticed with differences in my DS (2 weeks overdue) and DD (37 weeks) is that DS is a MUCH better eater breast fed immediately and has always been good.. DD was SOOO sleepy it was hard to get get he to nurse we were never successful.
My little girl was born just shy of 37 weeks. I was induced due to pre-eclampsia. She did require a week in the NICU because her suck, swallow, breathe reflex wasn't quite developed yet. However, she also had issues due to the fact I was given magnesium sulfate b/c of my pre-eclampsia. She has been home with us two weeks now and is doing great. She has already gained a pound! I know of other babies born even before 37 weeks that didn't have any issues at all. Good luck to you!!!!

Why is your doctor doing this at 37 weeks? Is there a medical reason?
personally if I had a choice in the matter I would hold off for as long as you can. 37 weeks IS full term but babies that are born a little younger have a weaker suck and if you're breastfeeding this could cause your LO to be jaundiced depending on how Bf'ing goes. My water broke at 37 weeks and I was only 1cm and cervix was thick so they had to induce with pitocin. I notice a difference from my other two boys. This one was slightly jaundiced and I didn't deal with that with the other boys.
I just think that the longer you wait the more prepared they are to handle their new real world.
My DS was born at 37 wks due to pre-eclampsia. His biggest issues were the suck/swallow/breathe reflex wasn't there yet, he couldn't self-regulate his temperature for the first 2 days, he couldn't latch for BF'ing and he has a pretty severe case of reflux. Nothing major, but definitely challenging and I wish I could've kept him inside for another week or 2. Why are they inducing you early? Good luck!!!
