What's the difference?

What is the differennce between cluster feeding and nursing to soothe. My son sleeps for 3-4 hrs. at a time and then eats for 20ish min. at night just fine. But during the day (every day) he is wanting to eat for about 10 min. every hour (for quite a few hours). It seems like every time he gets woken up during the day he wants to eat but then goes right back to sleep after he eats for just a short time. Is he just wanting to soothe himself back to sleep? Am I not making enough milk to satisfy him? Is he cluster feeding this often?

    it sounds like more him using you to soothe him self. 

    i wouldn't worry about your milk supply its prob fine.  most cluster feed during the day.  my DS did until he went to daycare and i wasn't there and then he started more of a meal schedule. 

    i'm not sure how old your LO is but depending you might want to start to sleep train so that he can learn how to fall asleep on his own.  i used the www.sleeplady.com 's method.  her book is great
