Anyone else have a growth ultrasound around 34 weeks?

My blood pressure has been running a little high in the doctor's office so last week at my 28 week appointment she started me on 100mg of Lebatolol once a day.  Well, I had to go back today for a recheck and my blood pressure was much, much better.  My doctor said everything was looking great and I had an ultrasound last week too to check the placenta b/c at 20 weeks it was a little close to my cervix (it is fine now) but she mentioend the baby looked good and everything too.  But, she did say as a precaution since my blood pressure has been a concern over the last couple of visits she wants to check the growth and put me on a monitor at 34 weeks to see how everything looks with the baby's growth.  I wish I would have asked more questions about this but didn't before I left...has anyone had this??

  • I had one at around 34 weeks with my first.  I was measuring big and had been diagnosed w/ polyhydramnios so they were checking up on that.

Just consider another chance to see the LO!  Even though by then they're so squished up in there that there isn't much to see.

  • I had a growth US around 31 weeks. My doc sent me for one just to see (no problems with preg). I was measuring fine, baby was about 3.5 lbs at the time.

  • I will have one at 35 weeks.  I am having one to determine if I will need a c/section or not.  She wants to see how big baby is.  If she thinks LO will be over 7 lbs. then I will have a c/section.
  • I had one at 32 weeks, for no apparent reason at all, except that I hadn't had an u/s since 22 weeks.  They just took a few measurements and estimated that LO was 4 lbs 3 oz, which was 50th percentile.
  • I had an ultrasound at 34 weeks b/c my bump was measureing slightly small; my ob mentioned she requested ultrasounds at 34 wks almost 50% of the time. I got to see LO one more time and found out the position and size of the baby....everything was fine. I'm sure your doc is just be cautious.

  • I will have one when I get there.  I have hbp along with a 2 vessel cord.  I'm on Labetalol too.  I didn't want it at first (and it knocked me on my a$$ for a week) but it really has helped.  I had an u/s at 28weeks and he was slightly behind but not enough to worry about.

  • I had a growth ultrasound at 33 weeks because my fundal height had jumped dramatically and my weight gain was higher than normal for the 2 week period prior to my 32 week appointment.

Everything was good, baby was measuring on the larger side.  The tech said the baby was measuring 35 weeks and 5lb 3oz.  However, I'm not worried since those measurements are not necessarily accurate.  I have my follow-up MW appointment this afternoon to see what she says about all of this.

  • I'm having one at my next appointment since I am measuring a little small. I'm glad you asked this, because I, too, would like to know more!
  • I have had no health or other issues but doc had a growth u/s done at 32 weeks to make sure LO was doing well too.

  • I had one at 34 weeks with DS- had GD and was on insulin. He was already 6lb 7oz at that point!!! Indifferent

I'll have one at 37 weeks this time- earlier if I end up on insulin again. It'll determine if I can try for a VBAC or not!
