Anyone else with mild swelling in the legs and feet?

Hey ladies!

I am about 16 weeks now and have started noticing a slight swelling in my calves and maybe a little in my feet.  It seems to become noticeable in the afternoons, gets better after a few hours with my feet up in the evenings, and completely goes away by the next morning.  Has anyone else noticed this happening to them??

TIA!!!

  • I havent this pg (Im 17 weeks), but I did with the last, and it just continued to get worse throughout the pg.  I also had to wear shoes an entire size bigger towards the end, and for several months after delivering (my feet did eventually go back).  This time, I have noticed several pairs of my shoes feel tight, but nothing else.  Try cutting as much salt from your diet as possible.  That helped me quite a bit last time; I quit using salt to cook with, tried to buy salt-free seasonings, didnt add it to everything (veggies are actually really good if you squeeze some lemon on them instead of salt), and at some point I had to completely give up having pepperoni or ham--if I ate a piece of pepperoni pizza my legs got huge!  HTH!

  • I have had some mild swelling in my feet and hands.  It is much worse if I eat a lot salty foods and if I sit for long periods of time with my feet on the floor.  I also noticed when it was hot outside it is worse too.  I've tried to cut down on my salt intake, keep my feet propped up when sitting for a long time, and drink plenty of water.

  • I have a little in my feet and knees. My knees swell up at random even not PG though. I have noticed the past week or so though that my feet KILL if I'm standing or moving around for more than 20 mins at a time though. My heels feel swollen and tender. It totally sucks and I didn't expect it to happen this early at all!

  • Yes, I've had it too.  I work 12 hour shifts on my feet (I'm a nurse), so I think that makes things worse.  I have been wearing my compression stockings to help, but I still swell by the end of my shift. Also, I noticed it on a long car trip as well.  I agree with PP, make sure you're drinking plenty of water and try to limit salt.

  • Thanks to everyone for the tips and feedback!!!  I will try to cut down on the salt!  : )
