So DH and I leave for Vegas in 9 days, and I'm giddy about it like the first day of school. I'm excited to go, but I have these nervous butterflies because it's the 1st long trip away from R. He does overnights with my Mom, but I'm always chomping at the bit to go get him in the morning. If you haven't figured it out, it's a kid free vacation. 5 days with no little ones.
With that being said, I need some help to get my mind focused on this trip. I need help with what to pack, things to do to keep my mind occupied while down there, etc. So if you ladies could be so kind as to help, I would forever be in your debt.

Re: Come in my Vegas Veterans!
1. What are some must items to pack? One cocktail dress, bathing suit, sundresses for the day time and sweats to come home in!
2. Where are the BEST places to go eat? Try The Peppermill (breakfast/lunch), it is totally "old" Vegas, but fun! Also, we choose a different fancy restaurant everytime we go. Last time we did a delcious steakhouse in the Venetian, worth the money for sure!
3. What are the MUST SEE shows in Vegas? The cirque de sole (spelling sucks!) shows.. any one of them are interesting to see.
4. Who has the best drink deals? If you go to a pool during the day you can usually get passes for drinks, but I generally don't spend my entire day at the pool. Treasure Island is good for drinks while gambling (I play the penny machines) also we like to get The Yard at the MGM - the bellini flavor is not too sweet and delicious.
5. What are the best free shows or attractions? I love just walking around the different hotels... so I'm no help there!
6. Are there any places we should avoid? I personally love the "divey" places (Harrahs and Buffalo Bills). But generally, don't go off the strip or out of Old Town it can get sketchy.
7. What should I not pack because I won't need it? Jeans
8. Should I pack a comfy "flight home" outfit? Sweats
9. Any airport tips? I haven't flied since '05. Make sure everything liquid (all personals) are in a ziplock bag. Get there two hours before and then hit up the sports bar that does $1 shot with your beer order. Also, don't check bags, just carry on if you can!
10. Any other deals or important information? HAVE FUN! No matter what you do, it will be a blast because you and your H will be together ALONE!
1. What are some must items to pack? Comfy shoes (you walk everywhere) and low cut tops (it is vegas afterall)
2. Where are the BEST places to go eat? Earl of Sandwich in the miracle mile!!
3. What are the MUST SEE shows in Vegas? Cirque LOVE
4. Who has the best drink deals? Bills! I spend all my time at bills, its a hidden treasure on the strip! 2 pitchers of beer for $10 and $.99 margaritas, yes please!
5. What are the best free shows or attractions? every casino has free attractions, just walk through each one.
6. Are there any places we should avoid? The whole part of the strip down by the stratosphere and the Sahara casinos
7. What should I not pack because I won't need it? pajamas
8. Should I pack a comfy "flight home" outfit? I think this is personal preference
9. Any airport tips? I haven't flied since '05. No liquids over 3.4 oz in your carry on. they will throw them away.
10. Any other deals or important information?
1. What are some must items to pack? Comfy shoes that are already broken in.
2. Where are the BEST places to go eat? Here. Seriously.
3. What are the MUST SEE shows in Vegas? No idea. I go for the booze and the penny slots.
4. Who has the best drink deals? Any casino floor. Spend a couple of pennies, get a drink.
5. What are the best free shows or attractions? I used to say Treasure Island, because the pirate show was da bomb, but they changed it and now it's a T&A show. I would go see the lions at MGM.
6. Are there any places we should avoid? The Fremont District at night.
7. What should I not pack because I won't need it? I have no idea.
8. Should I pack a comfy "flight home" outfit? If you want to. I never did this.
9. Any airport tips? I haven't flied since '05. Get there early.
10. Any other deals or important information? Be prepared to walk. A LOT. Their blocks are equivalent to two or three of ours. Alternatively, check out getting a pass on their monorail system. It goes from The Stardust down to the MGM (if I remember correctly). It's much cheaper than taking cabs everywhere, but it is a bit of a haul from the casinos to the monorail stations.
Unable to even.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.

5. What are the best free shows or attractions? We spent most of our time at Bills, watching the free bands and the hilariousness that is karoake

9. Any airport tips? I haven't flied since '05.
10. Any other deals or important information?
Yes, but remember Jen, boobs are out, vag is in. Apparently women like to flash the nether regions in Vegas.
sunblock, Tylenol (slot machines are loud and annoying), extra batteries, sunglasses, cell phone & camera charger, what ever you need to combat hangovers, pack carry on snacks
I loved "Blue Man Group" a mix of rock, science and goofy fun.
Don't pack your winter parka
If you have a AAA card use it almost everywhere and visit their website for deals. Also check with your hotel and see if they have any deals for shows/attractions. Maybe see if there is a groupon or living social vegas page and watch it this week.
No need for a car just use the hotel shuttle and maybe a taxi once or twice.
2. Where are the BEST places to go eat? I loved the Rio Buffet.
3. What are the MUST SEE shows in Vegas? Anything Cirque du Soleil. Pricey, but totally worth it.
4. Who has the best drink deals? Gamble and get them free. That is about the only "deal" on drinks.
5. What are the best free shows or attractions? I really like the botanical garden at the Bellagio.
6. Are there any places we should avoid? Each time I step in Excalibur I can't find my way out.
7. What should I not pack because I won't need it? I always tend to over pack, so I can't answer this one!
8. Should I pack a comfy "flight home" outfit? I usually do.
9. Any airport tips? I haven't flied since '05. Eh, just don't hold up the security lines because you are unorganized. Take off your shoes and pack your liquids in an easily accessible place in your bag.
10. Any other deals or important information? Visit downtown Vegas. As I've gotten older, I much prefer the low key atmosphere of downtown to the trendy strip. There is cheap gambling and some really interesting characters down there. Also, get the players cards at the different hotels. They usually give you some kind of free play on a slot. I got one at the Rio last year with a $10 free play, and won $100 - free money!
