Delurking to ask a potentially ridiculous question...

Hi Ladies!  I've been lurking on TTC for the past few months and am on our 2nd TTC cycle.  I never realized how badly I wanted to be a mother until I started trying for this baby!  Thus I've become somewhat crazy and paranoid about things.  Case in point:

 I believe I ovulated yesterday (I've been charting for the past 2 months, taking OPKs) and my husband and I had sex the past couple of nights.  In the heat of the moment, I gave him a bit of oral before we did the deed.  I already knew saliva can harm sperm, but I just completely forgot!  How much stock do you guys put in the whole Saliva-Impairs-Fertility issue?  Is it just something one would have to worry about if DH has low motility (I have no idea)?  FYI, we used Pre-Seed as well.  Sorry if I sound nutty, but this process brings out the neurotic in me.

    Good question! It never occured to me that a BJ could interfear.  Looking forward to the answers.

    I'm not sure how big of a deal it is to give him oral before sex. Especially if you're using preseed. I might have completely made this up, but I thought the idea was more not to use spit as lube. So, if it was that kind of oral, it probably wasn't ideal. Either way, don't worry.

    I had never heard of oral causing any problems with TTC when we were trying for DD, therefore did not limit that activity.  We had no issues...

    We discussed this recently, and I think the conclusion was oral to him was okay during O time, but probably the amount of saliva used if he gave oral to you was potentially problematic, going back to the whole saliva killing off sperm thing.

    So you're fine, but if I were you, I'd use a little Preseed and some hand work to get things moving next time if you're worried.

    Welcome. I would not worry about that. The cycle we got pregnant, oral sex was involved and I have asked some of my friends about this and they all got pregnant with oral sex involved, so... I dont think its that big of a deal. Have fun and good luck!!

    A little oral goes along way in his excitement factor. haha. And as they said in The Great Sperm Race, the more excited he gets, the further he'll pull back into his reserves when letting loose! Not sure if it's true, but it couldn't hurt. So, yeah I say go for it, enjoy baby making. Smile
