XP: I guess I'm a deluded crazy person

Lol. Apparently I am psychotic for responding the way I did to this thread.

  • Oh, TK, we already know that and love you for it :)

    Now...off to read the link!

  • Clearly you're an idiot. No one just calls their doctor when they are late. I mean, home pregnancy tests are 100% accurate.

     Duh.

  • Gasp!!!! Call my DOCTOR about something? Am I insane???

Dude. I have 24-25 day cycles. If I was 2 weeks late, TTC and my breasts hurt too bad to put on a bra, you better believe I'd call and say "Wtf? Tell me what is wrong with me."

  • I'm proud of you for finally recognizing what we all saw long ago. Good for you TK.

  • What!? You are two weeks late and don't know why and you would call your dr?! Gah what a dumb idea. I mean they are just a dr they don't know anything. Unless you are charting and know exactly when you O'd no one can help you. You have to chart. Where is your chart can we see it? Because without the chart then you are a hopeless cause.

  • Hello, my name is Tomkat, and I have issues. Srsly.

  • Her boobs probably hurt because she wants them to hurt. Such is reading into every little thing when you are TTC. Sorry, I wouldn't call a dr yet either.

I agree.  I'd feel the smallest twinge in my uterus and I was convinced it was implantation.  I can conjure symptoms with the best of them :)

That's true. And we don't know enough info about the OP to really gauge how much she knew about what she was doing, her cycle length, etc.

But I would still call just because that would seriously be the longest cycle I've ever had in my life by about 8 days. If they said not to worry about it, I wouldn't. But I definitely couldn't wait 60 days.

    Yeah, I'm with Chrys.

The Dr. can't do anything other than give you a blood test or the very same pee test the poster's already taken.

I've never heard of a Dr. giving a patient something to start their period before the 60 day mark.

It doesn't matter how regular your cycles are, you can always ovulate late and have a longer cycle.

That being said, I don't think there's anything wrong with calling the Dr. and having them tell you the same things.  You just don't NEED to call the Dr.

  • I'm not trying to be rude, but do you lurk on TTGP very much? They get stuff like this ALL the time.

So many things can upset your cycle that have nothing to do with being PG. I think people just have a different perspective on doctor visits / calls.

Basically, it can be a touchy thing if you're telling someone who maybe just had a stressful month and therefore a late AF to clog up a doc's time when people who have actual sicknesses and problems need visits.

Does that make sense? But honestly, I'm not trying to be snarky - just giving a different perspective.

  • I hear what you're saying. No, I don't lurk there much, specifically for this reason. However, I'm not the one who got rude about it. I realize the girl is probably under a lot of TTC stress though. I've never been down that road, and I'm new to the whole ttc process in general. I didn't try for Lila.

But I still don't feel crazy for saying I would call. I would find it too strangely coincidental that the month I had started TTC I had the longest cycle of my life with no sign of AF anywhere. Clearly I wasn't the only one who would have called either, judging by a few other responses.

  • Robbie -

And btw, I meant she "needed" to call her doctor as in "You need to call your doctor if your concerned. The doctor would have more details."

Not "you MUST call your doctor now because something is wrong."

    Got it!

As to the odd coincidence of having the longest cycle the first cycle you start TTC, I actually imagine it's pretty common.  TTC can be scary/exciting/stressful, all of which could delay O, causing you cycle to be longer.

Personally, I don't have an issue with anyone calling their doctor for any reason.  Even if there's nothing they can do, sometimes it's just nice to be reassured that everything is ok.
