Saw my OB today- she told me I should only gain an additional 3-4 lbs for the rest of my pregnancy. I started at 180 and am up to 197. Height is 5'6 1/2 in. I am almost 30 weeks along. Should I be stressed about this? I really do eat well, considering...and I walk at least 3x/week for 30 minutes and do prenatal yoga every Tuesday night. I also have a pretty active job- ER nurse and I'm still working full-time. I've never been "skinny", always a pretty curvy chick. Is there anything I can do to keep my weight stable for the rest of the pregnancy???
Re: Is this even possible?
I don't think so... Your baby currently weighs about 2.5lbs. You will be gaining at least 4 lbs (if not 6 or 7) in just baby, not counting your milk coming in, swelling, and other baby stuff.
Considering you have only gained 17 so far, I wouldn't be too worried about it. I am surprised your doctor even mentioned it.

Wow, I was told at like 28 weeks that I still had about 20 pounds to gain to have a healthy baby and not risk preterm labor (I was 2 pounds shy of my prepregnancy weight and having weight loss problems with my pregnancy). That just doesn't sound right to me. The fact that your doctor is trying to limit your weight gain to 21 pounds just seems ridiculous.
BTW I technically started overweight and above my normal weight because when I got pregnant I was still carrying about 15 pounds I gained from my gall bladder surgery and recovery.
