NYC girls...Or those who've been.

So, I just found out Elf is going to be on Broadway. I know it sounds crazy...but I've never been to NYC but I want to go just to see this :) I've always wanted to go to NYC and I just found airfare for dirt cheap ($89 each way), if we go the first weekend of December.

I'm about to search for hotels but I have no idea what area to stay in. Where's good? Where's bad? Any recommendations? I literally know *nothing* about NYC. I'd love any advice! TIA :)

Re: NYC girls...Or those who've been.

  • When I go I stay at the Hyatt in NYC...it is a little pricey, but so worth it!!

  • Wish I was free that weekend! Would have loved to meet up with you! NYC is only like 3hrs for me...

I've never stayed in NYC though, so I'm no help.

  • I love NYC, & I love Elf.  I want to go!  Too bad I just took 12 weeks off work...
  • Oh, darn, that's the weekend of Caroline's chistening.  I would have totally come up to meet up with you because it's only a train ride away from me.

I've stayed at a hotel off of Broadway called the Hotel Mela.  The rooms are small (as most are in NYC) but it's pretty cheap compared to most places.  It's sort of a trendy boutique hotel.

  • One of my friends is staying at the Radison (bedbug free as she found out lol) off of broadway.....
  • Resident NYCer reporting for duty... If you're staying in the city (meaning the island of Manhattan), everything is very safe. Most people visiting for the first time stay in Times Square, which is in midtown west, Manhattan. That is where the highest concentration of hotels are, and it is right in the theater district (read: close to Broadway). Hotels obviously run the gamut from $$$$$ to $, so if you'd like, shoot me an email (choogirlnyc at gmail), and I can help you narrow your search. And, um, this means we get to have an NYC GTG, right???

  • Since this is your first time in the city I will definitely recomend that you stay in Times Square. It's pricey, but you will love it.
