Movement Question

Hi ladies

I know all babies are different, but do they normally slow down in movement in week 24??
I have been feeling it all day since week 19 and am currently 24w4d and since Tuesday, LO has not been moving as much. I have still felt it, but not nearly as often or as strong.

This morning I have drank a huge thing of OJ and it is moving a bit but not as much as it normally would

Does this sound normal or??

Re: Movement Question

  • For me, I have busy movement days and quiet days.  The quiet days are usually days that I'm moving around a lot.  Its very normal to have variation in movement this early.  My OB said not to worry about tracking movement until 27 weeks.  At that point if you feel decreased movement, you are supposed to let them know.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • I agree with izzourclue, movement can still be a little hard to track right now. But I have my moments of concern ( I had one this morning) and I even when I think she isn't moving much, if I lay down and actually pay attention, I can feel the 10 movements an hour that are normal.

  • Thanks Ladies

    That makes me feel better.

I have a dr's appointment this afternoon so will mention it to him as well

  • I think it also depends on which way they are facing.  When my LO is facing my back, I feel much less movement.  I can feel her big kicks to my internal organs back there, but not a lot of little movements like I can feel when she's facing out.

  • Same here. Some days he doesnt move much and others its constant. When I am sitting alot I feel him more, not so much when I am having an active day.
  • Also, keep in mind that sometime between 24-27 weeks, LO's begin to develop regular sleep patterns.  If you're unlucky & your LO has nights & days mixed up, you might just be sleeping through its most active moments.

On Tuesday, I felt so little movement I almost called my OB, but then yesterday he was more active, and today he's been fluttering around almost non-stop since I woke up this morning, so I'm not worried any more.

I never thought about this - makes sense to me . I figured it would have up and down days but to go from feeling it hourly and alot during that hour, to feeling nothing from 7pm last night to 10am this morning, made me nervous

Thanks for all the info ladies
