My husband and i have seriously considered cloth diapers, but don't know much about them, anyone have any advice, good or bad, that would help us make this decision? i did a bit of research on GroVia and have a friend who loves them, but i'm just not sure! advice please!!
Re: Cloth Diapers--suggestions?!?!
Lurk on the EFF board and the cloth diaper board. Also, I found the EFF blog to be a huge help: https://www.theecofriendlyfamily.com/
DH & I love our CD's. There is actually a cloth diapering board and the gals on the Eco Friendly Family have a lot of information as well. We like to have a variety of diapers - we really like prefolds, believe it or not, and Bum Genius pocket One-size diapers work pretty well for our DS. I also love a variety of fitteds.
www.theecofriendlyfamily.blogspot.com has some good posts on the variety that's out there. There are also some cloth diaper trial packages - I used one at www.jilliansdrawers.com when DS grew out of his newborn stash. I got started learning just by checking out different websites and figuring out what I thought would work best for us. Good luck!
Can't speak to the GroVia's - just be warned that some diapers work on certain builds so not everything works on every child.
Ditto everybody about visiting the CD board - just lurk and you'll get a ton of information. I liked this site a lot for the general newbie stuff.

Fair warning, there will be PLENTY of people who look at you as if you have grown a third eye when you tell them this and they will think you are crazy and some will even tell you that is the stupidest thing they have ever heard. My thought on it is, they aren't going to be changing the diapers so they should shut the heck up!
Anyways... back to your question, I would start researching as much as you can on the internet. Cloth diapers aren't for everyone but they seem like such a better thing for your baby. They don't have the chemicals disposables do, they can make your baby potty train faster, they reduce the occurance of diaper rash, they are more comfortable for your baby, not to mention how much cheaper they are, especially if you use them for future children. Cloth diapers aren't like the ones we used to be in when we were little, the cloth diapers they have now are so similar to regular diapers leaks aren't as much of a problem as they used to be. Like one other poster said, one style won't work for every baby. I would suggest (this is what I am doing) to get several different styles and try them out and see what you like best. Even better ask to borrow some of them from friends that have them to try them out. Some people are freaked out about used diapers but I figure, youre going to wash them first anyways!
The way I see it, I don't want to wear uncomfortable undies so why would I make my baby?! If I have to go a few extra steps to do something that is better for my baby why wouldn't I?
Wow, then don't take the time to reply, just sayin!
