Last week I had an appt they tell me i have GD, she give me the monitor to test my sugars etc.. she also tells me not to stress about my numbers this first week they will be all over the place blah blah blah
I go back other day for one week check up and my numbers are 1-2 points higher then they should be which i don't understand at all
so then they tell me i will need to be on meds, maybe even a shot AHHHHHHH the dr yesterday says ok i will let you try a pill for one week and if it works great if not then you will have to do a shot
q's why can't you up my milligrams on the damn pill before making give myself a f?ing shot talk about stressing me out
so last night i had dinner did my test it was great 75. then for my evening snack i had pb and crackers and this morning it was fing 95, it should be under 90 um hello i don?t understand is it the kind of crackers maybe ??
q?s What am i doing wrong? what are you ladies eating at night? are you even eating a snack? i don't want to give myself a shot it will totally stress me out just thinking about it!!
Re: ok i need advice from those of you with GD
From what I understand, you can't change your morning fasting numbers really. You can try a different snack. It might help, but they told me if those go wonky I will probably have to go on meds at night. I am TERRIFIED of needles. I told them I would never do insulin. No way I could do it. I researched there are two pills you can take instead of insulin.
75 seems crazy low. Was that BEFORE eating? I have to be at 120 or below one hour after eating. Never had to check before eating.
My morning fasting is 90 or below.
They told me that the first week was to see what happens withme controlling my numbers through diet and exercise. The first week they told me they would be crazy critical.
You might want to recheck info with them. Do you have paperwork from them with info when you are suppose to check your numbers?
I agree with PP - 75 is pretty low for a post-meal time test. Did you eat enough carbs? When does your doc have you testing? 1 hr post, 2 hr post? It could be a yoyo affect perhaps.
What time do you eat your after dinner snack? I try to eat mine an hour before I go to bed or so. The best way to control your fasting numbers is to have consistent blood sugar readings throughout the day - it's not necessarily about what you eat for your after dinner snack.

Have they sent you to speak with a dietcian? What you're eating and understaning how many CARBS your allowed has a lot to do with it. For example I'm allowed 45Carbs for Breakfast and Dinner, 60Carbs for lunch and 30Carbs for my morning, afternoon, and bedtime snacks. A lot of time too you just have to pay attention to what foods spike your sugar no matter how many carbs you allowed.
I have to test 4 times a day and give my self two shots a day. I personally like the insullin. It controls my sugar levels a lot better throughout the day. Check out the High Risk board. The ladies over there can help you out a lot and you can see the difference between all of them.
I have to check my sugar two hours AFTER i eat
my morning numbers have been 94-95-96 all week which is what they are concerned with because it should be under 90 in the am
i will check out the high risk boards
thanks ladies
I check my sugars 2 hours after I eat as well - and they are rarely as low as 75!

How late are you eating? My morning numbers were all just a point or two above the cutoff, but then I changed my routine slightly, so that I'm having my last snack of the day about an hour earlier (in line with the schedule I got from the nutritionist) and they've been good ever since. Just something to think about.
