If so, then I'm bracing myself...
We live far away from our family which is making all of this so much worse.
1. I had a miscarriage last week. It sucked big time - it was early, we hadn't even told our families yet. We really wanted another LO close in age with DD. I had to go to the ER by myself because DH was with DD and there was no way I wanted her at the ER.
2. DH lost his job this morning. DD has been sick a lot lately and with both of us working full time and no one else around, we take turns taking off of work when she can't go to daycare. Well, this week DH stayed home for 3 days in a row with DD (I had a big project to do and mandatory meetings at my work) and his boss fired him. In my opinion, it was a d!ck move by his boss, but what can we do.
Ugh, this is so hard, I wish we had our family around. I could really just use some words of encouragement if you have any. ![]()
Thanks.
Re: Do bad things really happen in 3's?
They seem to happen in threes a lot of the time, but I think that is because we try to force order unto chaos and saying there are three ties things in a nice little package.
I am sad to hear about your loss and your DH's sudden unemployment. Just look to your DD to realize the miracles around you and try to see the world through her eyes for a little while.
As for DH's job, what size company employed him? As you likely know from maternity leave conversations, he can have up to 12 weeks off (unpaid) to take care of family medical issues and not be fired if the company is 50 employees or larger. What was the stated cause for termination?
Big Hugs! I'm sorry about your miscarriage. Your DH will be able to get another job It will work out.
Bad things don't necessary happen in 3's. So you may be safe.
What state you live in? There might be fellow bumpies near you? Pm me if you want someone to talk with.
I'm surprised that he was fired. Even though most states are at-will employment states, very few employers will just 'up and fire' someone without cause or without documenting the proper step ... i.e. verbal warning, written warning, probationary period ... etc ...
Unless he didn't go to work and didn't call in and was considered a walk-out, I can't imagine how/why his employer would do that. I hope that your health insurance isn't through his work.
GL.
It was a small office, so no protection with FMLA unfortunately.
We are in an at-will state. He has seen it happen before at his work - no warning whatsoever. So, it shouldn't surprise us. Seriously, the only good thing is that he doesn't have to work for that dbag anymore.
