Post Pregnancy Doctor's Visits

I know you typically go back to the OB/GYN around 6 weeks after delivery for a check up.  Barring any complications are there any other post-pregnancy OB/GYN visits before the next pregnancy or yearly exam?

TIA

  • I think it's just the 6 week appointment... with DD I had a pap 5 months after, but I think that was just my yearly.

  • Nope, just the 6 week then you go back to regular yearly exams. That is, unless you get pregnant again when your LO is 4.5 months old. Wink

  • Nope---maybe to adjust birth control if you chose to be on it....insert an IUD...other than that...just your yearly.

  • I had a c-section and had to go 1 week PP to make sure my incision was healing properly.  Then I went back at 5.5 weeks PP.

I'm due for a pap in December but that is just routine OB care unrelated to pregnancy.

  • When I went in for my 6 week, we talked birth control, post-partum depression, and also did the exam and a pap.  I wasn't healing correctly and my pap results came back "inconclusive," so I had to go back to get checked again and do another pap.  If it wasn't for that, I think I would have been good til I went in again for my annual appointment.

  • I actually had a 3 week visit, and having my 6 week visit today.

She doesn't like to do a PAP this close after pregnancy because they have a habit of coming back abnormal, so I'll go back for that in a few months.

When I had my pap done after DD and it was inconclusive, I was told the same thing.
