Low amniotic fluid

I also posted this on the 2nd tri board...

Went in today for our 20 week ultrasound. The doctor came in afterward and told us that there is very little fluid around the baby. Going to a specialist tomorrow...trying to stay positive but we're very nervous. I'm not really sure what to expect. Anyone else gone thru something similar??

I went through this but when it was found I was immediately admitted to the hospital and delivered 2 days later. I guess it really depends on what is causing the problem to start with. Mine was to do with my daughters umilical cord and she was dying because of it.

    Best of luck to you!

I had low fluid with both DS2 and DS3.

Did they tell you what level it was at?

With DS2 it was found at my 32 week u/s.  I was than monitored weekly with AFI and put on BR until I had him at 38 weeks.  At one point in that pregnancy I was hospitalized because it got down to 6.  Once it went below 5 they sent me to get induced.

Now with DS3 my fluid level was low from 20 weeks until I delivered him at 36 weeks.  I also had weekly AFI checks, and growth u/s done every 4 weeks than down to every 2 weeks once it got closer.  I also had NST done every week 2x a week for the last month   His fluids ranged from 4.5-10.  He was born at 36 weeks once it got done to 4.5 for the 2nd time.  I was also put on BR a few times from May until Aug.

On top of the low fluid both my boys also had IUGR.

Drink tons of water and try to keep it easy!
