You know I am so glad that I found this board! Before the bump and taking charge of your fertility I thought so many things differently. I actually know my body now and how things work lol I just read a post from another board and a women was seriously asking if 2dpo was to early to test!
I only have one other friend who knows about all this (cm and temping) and how her body works. My other ones have no clue even though I tried to fill them in. One especially I tried telling about charting but she doesn't want anything to do with it. I actually found out that she ordered some fertility pills offline (have no idea what type of crap pills they are) and started taking them because she thinks they will help her get pregnant. (All because her and her bf have been having sex for awhile w/ no success).
I guess the whole point of this post is to say I am so glad I found this place and I'm not one of the people on here asking if I could be pregnant a day after O'ing. Anybody else have friends that are just clueless like mine and believe everyone O's on day 14?
Re: It's amazing what people don't know...
Yes!!! And one of them was like, I can't believe that you check your CM. I wanted to slap her, but I smiled politely.
I think that some people are a little scared of what they'll learn when they're educated about their bodies and the process.
BFP 12/10/10 - DD1 8/16/11
BFP 10/29/13 - c/p 11/2/13
BFP 11/29/13 - DD2 7/18/14
BFP 3/20/18 - DS1 due 12/2/18
I was just at a client's house last night and she has gone through IVF and clomid and whatever else and she always asks if I have any news. We've talked about us trying, so it's not a big deal. I told her no, but I'm supposed to be testing this weekend. She said, "oh did you buy one of those ovulation test things?" I told her no I temp. She had no idea what I was talking about.
I don't think it's a huge deal that she doesn't know about temping, but I sometimes find it wierd that people haven't done more research on their own, especailly at the IVF stage. I know most people want to trust their doctor too, but I've learned way more from you ladies than I ever will from my dr.
DH sometimes looks at me like I'm crazy when I wake up every morning to temp and when I brought home the book TCOYF I got an "Oohh Babe" (in a voice that sounded like you need to stop obsessing over this). I told my mom all about the temping and stuff and she was like it's so scientific these days. Honestly, I do it not only because we are trying to conceive but because it's pretty interesting. Nothing holds my attention more than learning about my own body. I love learning how everything works and how hard it actually is to create another human life.
I was totally clueless before I found the Bump. We haven't told anyone we are trying so they don't know we are charting. Although my SIL walked in our room one day and saw the BBT and was like, Um, is there something we should know... And I was like, Uh, no, it's also helpful in preventing. LOL So, I'm just assuming she knows about temping and charting.
I know this was mentioned a few weeks ago, but my mom told me she temped when TTC me and my brother, and it both blew my mind she was doing this back in the 70s and then made me feel good that it's that proven of a method.
Yes I have a few friends that are in the "dark" about their cycles. Honestly I was the same way until I found TB. You my dear, are not alone

hahahah!!!!
Love it!
I agree. When I told my mom that we were going to start TTC, she was like "just let nature take its course" - it's amazing my sister and I are alive.
Oh and she asked her friend (who's an OB/GYN) about TTC right after the pill and the friend was like "yea you should wait b/c you could miscarry if you TTC right away" (which is not true at all) - so much misinformation out there.
My dr just told me to wait a month (which I didn't) b/c a lot don't O the month right off BC and are disappointed when they aren't KU (no kidding doc)
My mother charted as well.
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
This!!!
And you know if she happens to get pregnant this cycle she'll tell everyone that these fertility pills are a miracle drug. (even though they're probably just sugar pills)
LOL, good call. Thats what I thought of when you said lay an egg
This for sure. I found this board because I was being one of those crazies having phantom symptoms with no idea when I O'ed and thinking maybe that one certain time we did it around a week after my period got me KU.
Lucky for you all I lurked before I posted
