PSA: Peek-a-zoo book danger! Scary night last night.

After DS has dinner he sits in his highchair and "reads" his peek-a-zoo book with H while I clean up.

H turned around for a second to tell the dog to stop barking at the cat, in that second DS tore off half of one of the paper flaps and had it shoved in his mouth. H thought he got all of the paper out.. well apparently there was some under his tounge he didn't see, because about 10 min later as I was changing DS he stopped breathing and was choking.

I shoved my finger down his throat and scooped out a piece of balled up green paper from the friggin book. Scared the SHIIT out of me!

This book is rated 0-12months! The age should absolutely be changed on this.

    Um, WOW - so scary! Glad you were able to get it out quickly. 

    I can see this happening very easily - even with board books, we should all check them often. DS has a particular one that he chews on, and the paper is starting to peel off. 

    Guess it's time to pitch it. :(

    That really sucks. I am glad you got the paper out. My husband yells at me if I think she has something in her mouth and I go to get it out and it is far back because most likely you will push it down further. Good thing it worked for you :)

    Oh my!  Definitely scary.  It's good that you were able to get it out.  Those books make me nervous for that exact reason!

    Oh, that is definitely scary. We have some books like that, but I don't let DD play with them. Even when I'm reading them to her, though, she'll grab the flap and try to tear it. So glad your LO is okay!
