What the heck? Weird sore on Emmy's tongue- bfing?

So this morning my husband noticed this weird... blister looking thing on the end of Emmy's tongue. Not exactly on the tip, sort of off to one side. It's pretty big, relative to the size of her tongue- probably 2/3 of the tip of my pinky. At first we thought maybe she bit her tongue, and then the more I thought about it that didn't fit... because for her to have a spot that big, there would have been tons of blood. She doesn't go to daycare, and she's only been with DH or I this week. Definitely not that.

She hasn't been acting sick, so I don't *think* it's an illness. She doesn't mind when I touch it. I would call the pedi, but of course by the time I got worried it was too late so it will have to wait until the AM. Her top teeth are fairly new, so my H was wondering if maybe her tongue is rubbing on them when she's nursing and it's built up a callus? Maybe we are just now noticing? Any thoughts/ideas? What the heck is this weird thing in my child's mouth???

  • Hmm is it white? Like you know when you burn your tongue or eat too much of an acidic fruit or something? Hopefully it's nothing and since it doesn't seem to be hurting her I wouldn't be too worried.

  • Could be geographic tongue...I had never heard of it until I found out I have it.

  • I don't think it's fluid filled... and I don't think it's a burn, because she doesn't mind at all when I touch it. And she hasn't had any aversion to eating/drinking... it's just weird! I guess if it isn't bothering her, I shouldn't worry to much I just don't want to take her out and about if it turns out it's contagious, kwim?
