3rd Trimester

Anyone measuring ahead?

I wasn't until last week. They told me then that I was measuring two weeks ahead. At my appointment this morning, I was told I am now measuring at 40 weeks, which is 4 weeks ahead!

Oh boy! The doctor is already concerned with the baby being big, now I've gone from measuring right on target to measuring 4 weeks ahead in two weeks ahead! I seriously am not surprised, but would like it very much if baby proved the doctor wrong and came out not on the bigger side.

What will another 4 weeks do? Maybe I'll end up measuring like 50 weeks until baby is completely baked! lol. Fortunately, the doctor has not discussed scheduling an earlier delivery at this point. I have so much to do in the next few weeks! Guess I'll be busy this weekend trying to get as much done as possible!

Re: Anyone measuring ahead?

  • I was measuring about 2 weeks ahead from (roughly) 20 weeks to about 36/37.  She is now measuring right on track at 40.  I was sure she would be early because of this, but clearly I was wrong.  :(

  • You just never know!  I was measuring 4 weeks ahead at about 32 weeks wish DS1 and 2 weeks ahead at 36 weeks.  I was induced at 39 weeks and he was 7 lbs 8 oz.

  • my last appt (32 weeks) was the first time i was measured. i measured 2 weeks ahead. at my 30 week growth u/s they estimated the baby to be over 5lbs. they became concerned about her size and mine (im petite and theyre projecting her to be 9.5 lbs). the retested me for GD and it turns out i have it.

you may have just had a big growth spurt and evened out. if youre doctors arent discussing an early delivery then dont even worry about it

  • We've been measuring ahead for most of my pregnancy. I don't have GD or anything, so I guess my LO's just a big boy.

  • The doc. may have mis measured. I was told that I was right on track and then at my next appt. i was told that I am measuring a week behind, and have been measuring behind ever since then. Make sure he is really at the top of your pubic bone when he measures.

  • I measured 50 weeks last week at my appointment. Heh. There's 2 valid reasons for that though. :)

  • My MW wasn't concerned as long as I was within the 2 week range. Last appointment, I was measuring over three weeks ahead. She said that at my next appointment(next week), if I'm still measuring 3 weeks ahead, she's do a growth u/s and see what is up. I know they are not accurate, but I won't complain about it either.  I hope he's just stretched out a certain way to make him appear to be bigger;)

  • I measured about 3 weeks ahead and my water broke at 35 weeks 6 days.  DS was 7 lbs 1 oz and perfectly healthy, but had to spend 2 days in the NICU for observation.  I would try to get as much done as possible just in case!  You never know when your LO will decide that they are ready to come!
  • I am also measuring 2 weeks ahead...I have always measured big this pregnancy, and I do not have GD. Thankfully I am having a c-section b/c pushing out a 9 lb baby wouldn't be my idea of a good time.

  • I have been measuring 2-3 weeks ahead since about 20 weeks. I should be getting a growth ultrasound this Friday to see just how big LO is measuring. The tech at my last ultrasound estimated that I'd be having over an 8 lb baby... (eeekkk - my DD was only 6 lbs).

  • From 28-34 weeks I measured 1 week ahead. At my 34 week appointment I measured 2 weeks ahead. I don't have GD, but both my husband and I were around 8lbs when were born.
