Baby sleeps in full footed PJs in a swaddle blanket. We keep his room (and the house) at 73 at night. When I go to him for mid-night feeding, his little hands are positively frigid/icy. Is this ok? Should I put anti-scratch mittens or socks on his hands to try to warm them, or not worry?
Re: baby's hands FREEZING in crib at night
DS just started waking up like this too. I put a space heater in his bedroom and it comes on for intervals. I couldn't get myself to turn on the heat yet, we're still haing 85 degree days, but nighttime it gets near freezing. He's also in footed fleece pjs.....
Our DD is a hand sucker too, so they are always cold! But we keep her plenty warm at night.
This is off-topic, and maybe you're using precautions, but space heaters are a huge fire hazard. They should never be left running unattended (like going to bed for the night), and I definitely would not leave one running in a baby's room. Even if it only comes on for intervals and shuts off automatically, it could malfunction and be extremely dangerous.
We need to re-think using our space heater! Yikes...
We live in NY and gets pretty cold in our 1930 home. My LO sleeps in her cotton footed pjs with a sleep halo. Then in the winter, we will use thicker fleece pjs with a heavier sleep halo.
Seriously! What do you put your heat/air on?
Our air is at 68 at night and our heat is at 67 at night.
