I use my Loveyduds wrap around the house but as much as I pop DS in and out of it, it gets stretched out and it takes so long to put it on sometimes that he gets antsy. Yet, the Ergo is so bulky, I don't want to wear that to clean, etc.
Is there a wrap similar to the Moby-style that already has some of the tying done? Is that what the K'tan is? Would a Mei-Tai do the trick? Is that a more streamlined version of the Ergo?
Thanks!
Re: A "quicker" version of the Moby??
I think any carrier made with stretchy material would be a waste of money considering the size of your LO. A mei tai is (atleast I think) a wrap and an ergo's love child.
But I think you should try a woven, I really do find it so much faster than the moby ever was!
Love this. Quite a visual. LOL
I do have a woven. I only know one hold - the basic X - and he doesn't love it. I need to take the time to learn a high back carry.
What carry do you wear your LO in in the Moby? The PWCC? There is a woven version, the FWCC. Super easy, the pocket is just on the inside of the crosses.
Hmm. Not familiar with those acronyms. I have him in front, facing me with the fabric making an X over my chest and my back and the center panel as added support on top of the X. Mine is not really a Moby brand so the etsy seller had her own names for the holds. It sounds like what I am doing is what you are calling PWCC. So, I'd just bring it around my chest horizontally first then cross it over my back and my chest again to make it more poppable?
Can you adjust a mei tai to do a high back carry like you could a woven or does LO just have to be big enough to be able to see over your shoulder?
Also, can you pop LO in and out of a high back carry with a woven or would you need to re-tie it after, say, a diaper change?
You'd have to re-tie a back carry with a woven each time, but once you get the hang of it, it takes under a minute. A mei tai can be used for a high back carry, but FWIW, I found a woven easier to use. I'd suggest trying a SHBC (secure high back carry) with your woven. YouTube has great how-to videos. Here's one with a newborn doing SHBC:
And one with a big kid:
Yes this. Although I don't find it poppable. Do you want a poppable carry or just a carry that your LO likes more? They may not necessarily be the same thing LOL. Front Cross Carry (FCC) is poppable. So is Hip Cross Carry. No back carries are poppable -- although you can try to spin a FWCC into a BWCC but that seems too difficult to me.
