Parenting after a Loss

I gave in (buying new clothes)

I swore I wasn't going to buy new clothes, because I was going to lose the weight.  Sigh.... a month later and I am still wearing maternity clothes (my jeans aren't even close to fitting).  So, today I went shopping.  Old Navy was having an amazing sale, so I decided that buying cheap clothes is acceptable.

I got a few sweaters for 7.00 each! I also got a cute top for 2.00.   I refuse to look at pants yet... that will depress me WAY too much.

  • Give yourself some time momma! It hasn't been that long. I wasn't able to wear non-mat clothes until DD was almost 4 months old . I am still not in all my pre clothes, but I can wear some of them.

  • It took me awhile to give in and buy new clothes too, but I have to say it made a huge difference in how I felt.  My philosophy is that you just did a really hard thing, and you deserve a reward.  Early motherhood is SO difficult, and little things like just having clothes that fit can make such a difference in how you feel.  I'd say, go get a pair or two of pants, too.  Give yourself a break.  Nine months on, nine months off, right?

You are so right.  I do feel better now that I have clothes that look good.  I was swimming in the maternity tops, but too big for my non-maternity.  I felt huge.
