We have been looking for SUV/ Crossovers for a year now, waiting it out until either my car dies or we have a kid. I've done a ton of research about the different ones, and I just dont know anymore.
My favorite so far seems to be the Chevy Equinox with its 27 city, 30 hwy gas millage, roomy interior, DVD headrest option and all the other added features. It seems to be the only SUV that is comparable in gas to a sedan.
However, I dont know anyone who has one and I havent heard much about them. Those of who who have owned them or test driven them, give me your feedback!
Other SUV Im looking at is the Toyota Highlander, but the gas millage is hard to swallow.
Re: OK so the SUV post got me thinking: Chevy Equinox ppl! (NGPR)
Thanks! Anything you wish was different or added about it?
My parents normally get luxury type cars (Jaguar, Saab, Porsche, BMW,etc) and my dad just bought a Hyundai Vera Cruz (bigger version of the Santa Fe) and I could not get over how nice it was! There were a lot of great features I wouldn't expect to see at that price point and the leather they got was very nice. I definitely second the Hyundai, but at the same time I know several people with Equinoxs who love them and I am considering getting a Chevy Traverse when its time for a new car bc I want 3rd row seating.
I think the SanteFe used to have 3rd row seating, but they made it a little bit smaller and got rid of the 3rd row recently. I actually wanted a 3rd row too, but we are only TTC #1, so I can't really justify all of that extra room for just two people and doggies. I'm just a little girl that likes big cars I guess.
Honestly I would change a thing about it...I love the size of it and the way it drives. Everyone that rides with us alway raves about how big and very roomy our Equinox is. Good luck on your choice/buy.
thanks so much!
We have a 2004 Equinox, bought used from the dealer in a mad rush when our main car died the weekend before our wedding. We love it.
Ironically, we are currently having some weird problems with the power windows freezing up, but otherwise, it's a great car.
I don't know about the gas tanks in the newer models, but I wish our tank was bigger. It has good mileage for its size, but the tank is only l2 or 13 gallons, so I'm constantly getting gas. Our other car (and the one we replaced) were Toyota Camry's (Camries?) and they had HUGE tanks, so it's sort of inconvenient to have to always stop to fill up.
We also drove the Santa Fe, which neither of us liked nearly as much. Just didn't feel or sound as nice.
I LOVE the Murano, but too expensive for us. I also like the Ford Edge, but they are lower to the ground and probably not as easy for car-seat purposes :P
