and I'm really glad to read that caring for a newborn isn't all that hard. I'm organized, prepared, and knowledgable (and have a brain), so I already figured I would have an easier time than the usual woman.

I thought it was kinda boring. Maybe I'm just over it all. I remember thinking with my holier than thou attitude that Hank WOULD BE born naturally, and this, that and whatever else I was SO SURE of. It's all crap. Most of these women will be the first to admit they were one of "those" mothers and will be able to laugh at their own naivete...

At least I am... Am I giving them all too much credit?

I didn't read, but I can imagine. I thought I would be much better at this, since I worked on a pediatric unit. NOPE! I was WRONG! I know how to take care of sick kids, not healthy ones haha!

I had a failed epidural and the contractions at 7 compared to 10 were a whole new ball game! Not to mention the non stop barfing while transitioning.

I couldn't make it past the first page. Biting my tongue so I don't jump in with the "just you wait" line. But really-I can't wait to see how those people react when they have to deliver a freakin sunny-side-up baby and the back labor feels like your body is being split in half.

Seriously. You have no idea what it's like until you go through it. I was 9cm when we finally got to the hospital, practically begging for an epidural. Of course there wasn't enough time for it, but omfg transition hurts, sweetheart!

I got an epidural at 9cm. I might have been 10, but I told them I wanted the epi before they checked me (I definitely had no urge to push at that point). I had planned on an epi all along, and was surprised that I was doing just fine with labor so I decided to wait and see whether I really needed it. An epidural has risks, so why get it when you don't need it?
At 9cm, I got back labor (ouch!!!!) and needed the epidural. I wouldn't have done it any other way. I'll do it again with my next if I don't need it until that point (or at all).

And 7cm is not close! We all know that, but I have to say I was at 7 for 3 hours before my epi then gave birth 5 hours later.
